Hey all,

I went to visit Marvin today at the rehab center. He was in good spirits and genuinely was happy to see me. Just so you all know, this was the first time Marvin and I had ever met. We talked about cars, mostly ours, hehehe, and a bucnch of other subjects. I stayed about 40 minutes and wished I could have stayed longer. I had 2 women waiting for me in the car. I didn't want to get them pissed at me. LOL This was an afternoon visit and Marvin was going home for the weekend at 4pm.

Marvin is slowly getting better, but I will let him explain all of that.

Here is a pic of Marvin and I that a kind young nurse took. Marvin is on the left and I am the big ugly guy on the right.

Thanks for the visit Jack, it was great finally meeting you and visiting for a while. I told you my picture would turn out bad....lol never fails!, should have stayed in the chair, didn't realize I was leaning on you that hard, sorry about that. Look forward to getting better along wth the weather so I can see your car and visit with you again thanks again buddy see you again!

That's Cool, Car Guys are a close knit group!, Glad your feeling better!

That's great to hear Jack and yes recovering from a stroke can be a long process but with friends like yourself around will surely help. Oh yea, and your comment about the big ugly guy on the right being yourself was bang on.

God, I can't believe I said that, I'm just joking around.

Ahhhhhh, very good to see you standing up gettin better. Keep at it. Best of luck and wishs to you.

Thank for the compliments mike, and well wishes guys and donations. I will be atleast another month in rehab and then I will be coming home and going to rehab a couple of times a week. I dont know when I will walk well enough to get out of the wheelchair and use a walker or cane as my arm is coming slowly but i started some new drugs and hopefully they will kick in soon. I know I was standing in the picture of Jack and I, to make it look better, but it is setting righ behind me. As far as I know time trials might be possible for me a long ways down the road, but i dont think any competative 1/4 miles will be possible due to a slow foot. Oh well it is a wait and see game I guess. Thanks for everything one again everyone God Bless........

I can totally sympathize with ya Marvin. 2 1/2 years ago I had a double stroke ,Screwed up my vision and my motor skills. Very scary not to be able to do anything for yourself so suddenly after being the Man all your life. I was lucky I Had it at night and stayed calm till the morning and with ivs and thinners they got me almost back to normal in 3 days. If I was ever normal lol.Still today i,m scared to shut my eyes and go to sleep sometimes and lay and look at the ceiling wondering if it will happen again. They say what dont kill us makes us stronger so lets hope in the end you,ll be better than before. Know my thoughts and prayers will be with ya for a speedy complete recovery. Pete

Sorry Jackson, Terry gave me the lead so I could not resist.

Yea I always get the blame but some would say I'm big and ugly also. Kind of ironic tho, that's me on the left with a friend who had heart bypass surgery a month before this picture was taken.
Glad to hear you're doing better Marvin.

Godspeed Marvin! I have a buddy whom had the same misfortune as you and he's 100% now. Don't lay in bed wondering....that just slows your recovery. Take it as a sign post in life and follow the directions you've been given.

I personally found myself in the hospital with congestive heart failure back in `95. The Doctor said the out come could be as simple as medication...or up to a heart transplant. My sign post was TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF!

Diet & exercise, plus daily medication... did it for me. LISTEN TO YOUR BODY!

This was me at 340 lbs.

13 yrs. later:
John21205-vi.jpg

203lbs.

I lost over 130 lbs. and quit smoking...and boozing.... and a few "other" nasty habits I had. It took me more than a dozens years...but I tried to do my best.

Marvin, whatever the Doctors suggest as being conducive to a healthier lifestyle.... LISTEN! Do research and learn how to improve your quality of life. If there's SOMETHING you can change to prevent future problems...DO IT.

Thanks for the update Jack, Marvin glad to see your still makin progress, nice to see both you guys in the pic. Enjoy your time at home with the family:cheers:

hi don,

Thank you for the real cool car card, letter and donation really appreciate it. Fastback believe me I have changed my habits, I eat healthy, cut way down on smoking eventually hopefully kicking the hababit and doing everthing the physio therepathists tell me to do and working my butt off to try and get better, but I guess i am a little impatient I never knew how long it would take to repair, i guess it was quite severe! My blood pressure is way down and stabalized, which was what had caused the stroke even though I was at the doctor a few months and there was no problems. So i guess you never know. thanks for everything God Bless.....Marvin Peacock 70 dart

Marvin, it's great to see you buddy! Even if you had to lean on that big lug Jack to stay upright. :) Keep you nose to the grindstone and listen to what the docs tell you, and things will eventually work out for the best.

Nine and a half years ago I developed a membraneous nephroticsm of the kidneys, just out of the blue. My cholesterol went from 3.4 to 15.9 in a matter of weeks - walking dead man!! I had to have section of the major arteries removed and replaced with nylon ones on both legs on each side of my crotch, and my weight went from 208 lbs to 275 lbs in like 40 days. Had a sac on me about the size of a basketball. That was fun trying to climb stairs....NOT! :)
Well, to make a long story short, the docs gave me 2 years to live. Being the smart-arse that I am, I told both of them I'd dance on their graves. Well, looking back, one of them was reall pretty young, so I may just have to settle for the one dance, but damnit, I'm still here and still kickin'.

Wonder if I should maybe contact those nice doctors and tell them I never did learn to dance..... Oh well. Maybe next year. :)

Hang in there bud, you can do it.
