Ideas on running slower E.T without throttle stop

-
Guessing the car is an auto with a manual valve body. Try starting the car in second instead if 1st. If you have a lower stall converter try swapping that. I lost about 4 tenths going that route.

Add weight
Adjust throttle cable so it doesn't get full throttle
Disconnect secondaries
I personally use a The ET Genie which is an adjustable restrictor plate.

Imo......
All the tuning suggestions will slow the car a bit, here and there. But the o.p. wants to slow the car from low 10s (10.20 or so?) to 10.90.
I would figure out how to make the stop the o.p. has, in post#9, work. Most consistent, easiest way to kill a substantial amount of time without altering much else. Just keep an eye on the tune and exhaust temps as GTX John says.
Probably easier than adding 500-700 lbs.

We got it installed.
With the bolt full adjusted, the primaries got 3/4 open and the secondaries less than a 1/4 open....... lets see how much does it slow the car down, from 10.15

Looks good !! basically the same principal as my set up except for the WD 40 can! you can a always install a longer bolt to slow down more if you have to.

Based on how much the throttle is closed at this point, how much e.t do you think it will take off ??

As an example : my secondaries are barely opening and I go from 10.80s to 11.50s ... a full turn on my set up is 4-6 hundredths.. the picture is where I am set up at now for low 11.40s. It took quite a bit of testing to perfect my set up and get it dialed in. When my motor was on the dyno we played with my stop and with my 11.50 setup I was killing around 80-90 horsepower , from peak h.p. of 547 to 460 h.p. roughly. It has been very effective resulting in a track championship in 11.50 Index and another in Sportsman / Street Eliminator ( 11.50 and slower ) both with a high ten second car ! I don't mean to brag .. just making my point that the setup works !!! I am waiting for the weather to improve for some test and tuning as I changed a few other things in the car example: aluminum exhaust with aluminum race mufflers .. old exhaust was 51 lbs vs now 14 lbs etc.

Nice and great info as a guideline. From what I see, closing the secondaries took out almost .70 from your e.t.. These little small block monsters will still make good power on 2 barrels

Yes .. but I tried running on a two barrel only and it killed to much I still need a little secondary opening .. glad to help !

Recently I tried some vp c16 (116 oct.)
in a friends
Blown drag boat
It slowed down 8 mph vs 102 octane he normally runs.
It didn't want or need the higher octane (at least with his current tune up.) so now if we want to slow it down we run the c16
We don't have to change anything else.
It's easy on his boat because it has 2 tanks.

Hi, just to share some feedback and results.

The throttle stop slowed down the car as required, and was able to run the numbers.

I marked some strips on the throttle rod for my own reference for the future.

Thanks BVoelzke and the rest of the members for your feedback
