My wife and I took the Dart to Ceasars Indiana for a show Sunday,Very nice show to benefit wounded warriors.We had a great time and made our usual contrabution to the casino,Afterwards we were going to meet family Hubers for our yearly punkin fest.Anyway on the way there some idiot in a rice burner pulled out in front of us and I had to lock it down (actually slid )streight. To make a long story short,I had to ut the Dart into a field to kee from hitting this idiot.Then he just drives away.I could of killed him.By the way there was no damage that I can tell, just a little dirt and a little s#*# stains in my wifes drawers. What is it with these idiots? the asshole didnt even stop.....I robably would have killed him.............RANT OVER......................................Jeff

Glad the Wife and you were not hurt.If you would of hit him I am sure his plastic car would have not held together so well....
 
No need for that what-so-ever, glad both of ya are ok....but I think its a nice gesture for idiots to be easily identified by the ricer!!LOL
 
Don't blame the car, blame the kid. He would probably be as rude driving a Mopar. Here they no longer teach hands-on driver's ed, just classroom slides. Most learn from their parents who can't drive. Kids spin donuts regularly at the high school across the street, even driving up on the sidewalks. The CHP never comes. Once I heard them doing it, then a big thud. Looked out and as I thought they had rolled over their parents new SUV. Finally got the cops and Fire Dept to come that time.
 
Glad no one got hurt. Want to draw out a..holes just hook a trailer to your truck....
 
A lot of 'em do it on purpose. They see a nice old car and know you'll get out of their way to avoid a wreck. Pushy b@st@rds. Had it happen to me all to often, usually got the finger and a laugh from them after I avoided a wreck. That's one reason I'm leaving my crappy old 4 door Valiant crappy looking. Never had a problem when I was driving a real POS. They have no respect but demand it in return.

Just remember, we're driving death traps. In an accident our classics will probably sustain less damage than the ricers, but we will sustain greater injuries.

That is a myth, these old cars hold up pretty good in a wreck. Think these newer cars are safer, bs, who lives in a bad crash anymore--like nobody, the driver is almost certain to be killed or injured very bad, helps save insurance companies money if you die on impact and your off the road forever...means no more car wrecks

I spun out a 1970 Old Cutlass when I was 23, was going high 70's mph in a curve and lost it, hit a 6 cyl Jeep Cherokee semi head on, 8 months later I was "good as new" and still feel pretty good today.

Yeah these newer cars are to be so safe but when a bad crash happens who lives???????????????? Yet the hospitals today are better than ever

They didn't stop because they don't care about anything but themselves. They got what they wanted, got out into traffic, and didn't care how they did it. And Ontos, you're right. They expect to be respected, but have no idea that it has to be earned, and don't know how you earn it.
 
To do real world testing 50% of cars made today should have NO airbags, then after 15 years or so, look back at the crash and death rate to see if air bags really are safe...but no, we never got real testing like that.

Watch the old Blues Brothers movie-like the mall scene--that is why we got air bags, to blow your hands off the steering wheel in a crash to stop the car from being used as a weapon, not to "save lives".

I'm one of the few guys on the roads who total out 2 different cars when I was in my 20's..I didn't see a stop sign in a 55 mph zone going about 50 mph and t-bone a pick up truck, I was again in a non air bag car--this one a 1987 Cutlass (I drive no more Cutlass cars now, ha ha)...no seatbelt - air bag and I woke up when the officer was checking my pulse, 30 mins later on I was signing the release form refusing hospital treatment, lol


Today who wreck cars--the 87 was total for $9,000 the insurance sent a check for--and is still on the road ? Doesn't happen, everybody thinks their newer car is so safe yet who totals them out and lives problem free afterwards ?

I knew a cop back in the early 80's who used to brag about totally out 9 police cars and was always back on the road within a few weeks. He never wore his seatbelt either but always had his helmet on----where are these tough guys today ?
 
Glad to hear y'all came out ok... New Albany out to the casino is like a race track, I have had some crazy people/ drunk people about run me off the road out that way..... Idiot was probably mad because the Sherman Minton is closed, and took it out on you and the wife....

Wow glad to hear you and the wife are safe.
I've had the same thing happen and it changed my reasoning in a situation like that. But luckily not in my old car but in my 89 jeep that I USED to tow behind the motorhome(gas prices killed that in a hurry) I wasn't able to stop. slid sideways heading to the ditch and realized that thing was about 9 foot deep and either I'd roll it or just node dive in, NOPE not gonna kill myself for that creep. I straightened it back up and slammed into him full tilt bout 55 mph on the expressway. I smashed up his car pretty good about mid backseat, since I had a 1/2 thick reinforcement plate in the bumper from bracket to bracket so I could tow the thing with a tow bar. All the damage to the jeep was grill front panel and bumper got bent in on the sides. his car was a honda (something or other coundn't figure out from the back side) Luckily there was a ohio state trooper chasing after the idiot. and ticketed him and hauled him to jail for reckless driving ,speeding and a bunch of other stuff. Since then I've added that same style reinforcement plate to both front and rear of every metal bumpered vehicle I have. they hit me I want them hurtin and if I ever get in that position of having to hit someone I don't want to get hurt. I'm sorry if this ruffles somebody's emotions BUT when It comes down to ME or You (not you in specific but as in general public) in an accident I'm gonna choose me every time, just as I'm sure your gonna choose you instead of me in the same situation.
 
Its not true that old cars fair better in wrecks. New cars are meant to crumple to take the impact to save the driver, but once it crumples new cars are pretty solid. My friend in his 66 mustang crashed into a newer toyota camry head on at 30mph. The camry driver was fine, no scratches. But my friend had a bloody nose because of the steering wheel and the front end of the mustang was toast. the camry just needed a bumper and a front headlight while the mustang needed a Radiator and a whole new face lift.
Around here anyone driving an import has no respect for anyone on the road. Ive had a guy spit torwards my car in a riced out honda civic for no reason other than it was an old muscle car. The other day I had a guy in a corolla lean out of his window just so he can tell me "Vroooom Vrooom" trying to immatate the sound of my car I suppose? Then he cuts me off and speeds away because since he was busy saying vroom vroom he didnt realize his lane ended. I was just driving normal trying to get home. I wish I would have floored it, turned the wheel sharp into his car so he could hit the brick wall coming up. Then once he got out of his totaled corolla id just reply "Vroom vroom"...Ive had it with those damn cars..

Freak, check out the 59 Bel air frontal crash with an 09 Malibu and see who wins. The 59 looks like a bottle breaking compared to the 09. The 59 Driver is killed instantly, the 09 driver gets a sore knee.
 
WOW that 59 Bel Aire didn't do so well against the Malibu. I was really surprised to see the roof come apart right at the A pillar.

Seriously though, I never spanked my kids much at all and even then it was more of just a pop on the backside to get their undivided attention.
I found WAY more effective ways of making them mind first and ask questions later.
Those rubber bands that they put around broccoli cut so it's just a strip scared the heck out of em (no marks either)
Of course I'm talking about when they were 10-12 and not really little.
Didn't mind Mom while I was gone??? the payment was two snaps when they least expected them, and they could have been a day or two apart even. (REALLY effective psychological deterrent)

I doubt the drive-train is even in the Bel Air. Plus did you notice all the rust and the plastic tag fly off at 58 seconds? I don't care how well your car is designed, I'd rather have a roll cage and a 5 point racing harness than all the stupid safety **** that they put in your car so other retards on the road have a less chance of causing a car accident.

I'm going to take this on another tangent. I'm not that old(30) but iv'e spent most of my life around old timers, hearing their stories and listening as they talk about their life. I know how I was as a kid, and I know how they were as a kid. Kids haven't changed, they pull the same crap we and others before us did when we were young. Is the discipline down? Hell yea. But douches or not their pulling the same stunts we did. In all honesty most of the stories about the crap these "youngins" are pulling seems mild compared with some of the retarded stunts I pulled, and miraculously survived.

Very glad your OK!!! I know my brakes don't work anywhere near as well as everyone elses on the road in the Fish, it's sure a chore to try and leave plenty of room between me and the guy in front of me, especially in traffic. No one seems to realize when their trying to push their way to the "front" that the primered, loud, shaking car their cutting in front of is dealing with 50yr old tech. Atleast I don't get tailgaters lol guess having their brain rattled in their heads is enough to get em to back off.
