that is just a dust shield to keep crap outta the bearing.
The bearing is a snug fit. I had to work mine some to get it off of the shaft.
As others have said, may need to use a puller to help.

Thank you that was the best straight forward answer I have got putting puller on now

Easy with it... That collar is a cast piece. Easy to break and hard to replace..
And I just noted you still have screws holding it down. Did you get them out?

Sorry, I tried to edit that out but it didn't work.
It looks good from what I can see. As stated in the other thread, that should not be a press on, just a snug fit. Could just be a little burred and a little grungy.
Just remember to take it easy with that cast piece.

Now look it don't wanna come off ... I don't know how I don't know how many pounds of pressure I have on this but I'm telling you right now this bearing does not want to slide off of here

David,

I'm going to PM you my cell number. I can't help you now as I'm at work and on my lunch break, but I can stop by this evening on my way home, if you don't already have it back together by then.

Brad

Great Job!!!
Do your self a little favor and drag some emery cloth or light sand paper around the shaft at the bearing surface before you re-assemble.
Also, when I did mine, I had to put the steering wheel nut back on and pull the shaft toward me some so I could get the bearing to seat and get the c-clip to seat.
It is normal as the steering shaft will settle into the coupler that is in the engine bay some.

Thank you for the advice now I'm trying to get this pinout, and lookup a way to add a switch to start it in case it ever happens again.

Are you talking about the roll pin for the steering wheel lock dog?
IIRC, it is a PITA and only comes out one direction..

Opps, well the top looks bigger than the bottom, but in the guide he's holding it like he took it out from the bottom

Any luck? Can't try to knock the snot outta it, things could break. Just be persistent it will come out.

Mine was a PITA. Took me 15 mins to figure out it only came out the one way.
Then, the lock dog came off like a dream. Nearly fell off in my lap.
