Illinois

Hey @jeff alder who's good with a paint gun around us?
If your on a Budget and can handle an odd guy...Steven Gossett in Woodland. We painted several cars together...very talented but very different. His family is closely related to Clinger from MASH. If you have deep pockets Justin Nichols. He used to be my next door neighbor years ago before the last flood. He had the TV show "Wrenched." If Alan Ziebart is still around Watseka he is the best custom painter I have ever seen. A true artist. Your neighbor Fred Castonaguay in Freehills building is no slouch if you could get him to do it.

Just curious who's your buddy in Rossville? I went to school there. I referred to Danville as Chicago South because it is at or near the top of the murder per capita stats for Illinois every year. When Cabrini Green was tore down in South Chicago, guess where a lot of the tenants moved to. Danville also has a prison I totally agree about Chiraq. I avoid if at all possible.

I know (they're brothers) Rick and Tracy Farnsworth. Tracy I guess moved out a couple of weekends ago, I knew he was looking in a southern state but didn't know that he had actually found a place and moved. He lived next to the dollar general on Rt 1, and had a garden tractor show at his place every year on the day before Father's day.

Ahh.. I know Fred....

And no I don't have "Nichols money"
I've actually talked to them though and was told they're 2-3 years out but weren't taking on any "plain Jane paint jobs".
I'm talking to a metal fabrication and welding place by me (not automotive, more like structural buildings) that does the dustless blasting and wanted to coordinate what I wanted to do so my truck would get coated with "something" before it can rust up again.... I have an 83 D250 completely in pieces, all rust free, but all different colors and at least 2 coats (and peeling at that) everything but the cab is from states that don't use road salt. And the cab has been in a barn out of the weather for probably 10 years or more, as gas the rest of it.... Gonna have a "leftover parts sale" once I get it finished. Doors hoods fenders sort of parts

Its not good enough imo. Between alcohol tobacco Marijuana and casinos we shouldn't have property taxes at all plus the schools should be covered

I think it sends the wrong message. They want to attract people and keep them. So hey come to illinois and we will screw you on property taxes for 30 years then you are clear. If something like that were to pass I think it should be a graduated program. Like every 5 years in your house they remove 15% or something. That way people are motivated to stay. Imo

I see what you're saying. Maybe they are looking at the retirees who might move to a warmer state. Might be incentive for them to stay here. I think we have about 2 years left to qualify.

Could you even venture to guess what taxes on that property would be up here?
We must be paying for the "convenience factor" here.
I couldn't guess...I had a family friend that used to be a circuit court judge post a filing for reduced taxes when we first bought the house. They were lowered $1800... about 4 years later it was only $600 less but better than nothing. Give me a minute and Ill post the farm and taxes.

I replaced the concrete porch out front with a wooden one. Next year, the taxes went up more than I paid for the materials! I called and I think I calming explained the situation. A new tax bill was sent and it was less than the year before. Worked for me.

https://www.realtor.com/realestatea...8336?msockid=2f3f1629fbcd6bca154a02b9fa776a73 This was my Mom's about 3 miles from my house. It was originally built around 1890. The taxes were 3600 without the farm ground.

Beautiful! So many positive things to comment on but the one thing that keeps resounding in my head is: Boy! there is a lot of upkeep there to maintain the wonderful looks. Would be a fabulous bed and breakfast.

It took me 6.5 hours to mow it with a nice John Deere Lawn Tractor. It used to take me 2 hours with an old Allis with a belly deck ... before we turned it in to what is. There is a square burn pile in the back of the property that is always full of pruning's. There used to be a fruit tree orchard and garden where all the various pines and smoke trees are now in the photos. I couldn't keep up with all of it after my mom couldn't manage it with our jobs, property, grandkids and these damn Mopars. LOL. Mom reluctantly allowed the fruit trees to be replaced with pines. We transplanted them from the railroad ground. That took part of a summer but saved tons of time with the pruning, spraying picking and all the other upkeep.

I more than qualify right now. I'm not 'renting' the freakin' land...the house is bought and paid for with a ton of 'sweat equity' included. Why the hell am I still paying (ridiculously high) taxes and having the possibility after all this of having the gov't repo for back taxes if for some reason I fall on hard times and can't pay them?

My real estate tax went up $380.00 since last year. Nothing changed here, and I didn't see any improvement from our government.

I'm in Central Illinois and it's the same here. Taxes keep going up and the roads keep getting worse. We're about 4 years away from 30 but I don't see a bill like that ever passing in this state, unfortunately.
