Has anyone out there used the procomp airgap dual plane intake from i believe that it is rays speed shop. If so is it a good one or should I use an edelbrock. It will be going on a 340 with a 4 sp and basically going to be a street car no drag racing.

will work fine if it physically fits. Check gasket surface angle. It has a slightly smaller plenum volume than an Edelbrock but usually has much better port alignment.

American Made doesn't mean quality of manufacture or design, and I work in manufacturing.

To the OP, is you engine built to use the 1500-6500 RPM range the Air Gap offers? Another consideration is hood clearance, its taller than stock.

My AirGap takes quite awhile to warm up. Not the best in colder climes.During the warm up period, the carb has to be a little rich,or the timing quite far advanced. I don't run a choke, so there is no way for me to un-richen the carb when the intake finally warms up. So I did a little of both. A fat idle and I bought a dash-mounted,dial-back, timing box. Right after start-up, I crank it up. The trick is to remember to back it out about 5 miles later. There are other ways to handle this querk. Are you up for some experimentation.
The AirGap-type has been a great street-manifold for me for over 16 years. With my set-up I don't perceive a high-rpm drop-off from the driver's seat, all the way to 7000rpm plus. Nor does it seem to have problems at the lower rpms.
Well, below 650 something is going on, but there are too many other variable to blame it on the intake, lol.I doubt I will ever entertain a different manifold. A cam maybe.A carb maybe.Head porting maybe. But this intake is staying.
