Do i have the flex plate on the right way?

Also, do these bolts have to be torqued? I don't have a torque wrench.
I just tightened them tightly.

Has anyone heard of a Torque converter brand "Precision of New Hampton"?
The web site is... http://www.gopnh.com/

I just had the tranny rebuilt and ask for a 2400 stall, and this is what they gave me.

Oh, anyone know the size of the bolts in length for the bell hosing? Unfortunately, I have to many unlabeled bolts :(

I'm doing this tonight, fun stuff!

Thanks!

umm i dont think you have the flex plate on right im not 100% sure though

The flex plate is installed correctly.I would strongly advise you to apply blue lockite to the bolts to the crankshaft and into the converter.

yes it is on backwards lol is it a sb or bb tranny 727 or 904 i have a sb 904 that i am refrancing to i think there the same though

OH it is on the motor SHI% i thought it was on the tranny my bad YES IT IS ON CORRECTLY

I've heard of that TQ vendor or seen them recommended before. I've never owned one though.
Jaw Leno recommends them LOL

yes it is installed correct i thought it was on the tranny when i really looked at the pic it was on the motor my bad

O.k. Locktight it is, off to the store! This is a 904 tranny.

Anyone have input on the converter?

Thanks!

no they wont they have to go on before the flex plate is installed then when you hook it up you thread them into the convertor and you wont have a problem thats how it was done on my /6

Well, that is the correct way to do it though, right? It gets mounted to the crank first then install the tranny and then bolt the flex plate to the torque converter... correct?

Correct. There's nothing in the way of putting the bolts in after it's all shoved together as it gets covered later with the inspection cover. I can't speak to the orientation of the flexplate (because I'm too lazy to go drop my inspection cover), but did this car have a 360 or am I confusing it with another? If so, the converter should have counterweights to accommodate the external balance thing (since the flexplate looks like a neutral balance unit).

I wondered about the bolts hitting the block too, that's why I questioned myself if the flexplate was on correctly?? They DO clear, however it is pretty close.

It is a 360, but it is internally balanced! Thanks!

bolt the flex plate to the motor

slide the converter into the trans. make sure its all the way in.

then bolt the trans to the motor

then bolt the flexplate to the converter

That flexplate is on backwards, I could swear it but let me double check.

Sorry, never heard of that brand TC.

Edit: IT IS INSTALLED CORRECTLY! My mistake. :) I used a B&M on my last build. Bolts should be torqued to 55 ft. lbs. DokX is also correct in regards to balancing. Is it a 318? A 340? a 360?

To be totally honest, I said the flexplate was backward then edited my post because I was backward. The flexplate is correct as shown. Cheers

Ask how many put shoes and coat on to go look for you
I did :)

LOL! Thanks!! I appreaciate it! :)

Yea, this fall sucks. It went from Summer to Winter in .02 seconds!

F-Al Gore!
