Jay Leno does a Superbird

-
Thanks for the heads-up, adriver!

Yeah...Dunham has good taste in cars but it seems like he outta know a lot more about it than he does. That bugged me a little (only because that car was a god to me as a kid and to this day, I’d give a ******** to own one) but it’s pretty forgivable. He’s taking good care of it.

I know Leno is a Muscle car fan but I don’t enjoy it when he takes the critical position over the bad points of how Muscle cars drive (poor handling, scary brakes, slow by modern standards, etc.) even if he’s 100% right, he’s totally missing the point. In particular, the “tucking the ball of socks into your pants” metaphor makes me roll my eyes every time he says it.

Enjoyed the video...thanks for posting.
But I was amazed that neither Dunham nor Leno knew more about either the Daytona or the Superbird.

I couldn't believe that Dunham kept saying that he couldn't believe that they drove those cars at 200 mph, with that suspension. Duh, I think it may have been a bit modified.

In the mid and late 70's, when I started becoming "car aware" (in Phila.), those cars were worthless. Yes, you could buy almost any muscle car for cheap because they had been whooped on and gas had gotten "expensive" ($.65). But those were not desired at all. I remember seeing one parked as a daily driver, all beat up, the owner probably cursing its poor mileage, not to mention how hard it would've been to parallel park one on a city street!
I can see the collectability now, but I'd still rather have my '70 Challenger R/T 383 4 spd, 3.91, black w/ burnt orange interior and no other options (not even p/s or p/b). I paid $800 for it in '78, and it was whooped! Had a perfect, no rust body, interior was ok, and the motor seemed to burn a little bit of oil. lol

Of all the cars shows, I like Leno the best. He doesn't have that fake drama and bs deadline crap.

But, I digress. :)

Kind of funny what you can buy when you are successful at putting your hand up a dummies butt!

So far's I'm concerned, nose cars are STILL worthless. Ugly, hard to work on, impossible to park. And they have driven the other B's out of sight in price because every dickhead wants to "clone" one.

Don't hold back, Dell.
Tell us how you really feel.
Id rather make money putting my hand up a dummy’s butt than some dummy putting his hand up mine lol

The Pay Scale of a Proctologist

Average Incomes
Proctologists' average incomes closely parallel the median incomes. Profiles reports an average annual income of $389,700 for colorectal surgeons in their sixth year of practice, when most have passed the necessary exams to become board-certified. The Medical Group Management Association, another large industry body, reported an average salary of $407,273 per year for colorectal surgeons in its 2011 survey.

If somebody gave me one I'd sell it and buy something I wanted. Butt ugly cars.
I could have bought one for $1800 once, back in the day. I didn`t because of a cheap repaint. It was straight tho, 440 auto.. I would sell it now and buy a new 800 horse demon.

My brother had a SuperBird in the mid '80s.
It was an awesome car to say the least and it drove nice.
440 4 bbl console auto, 3:23 sure grip 8 3/4.
Smooth, fast, and great looks.
You could really feel it suck down to the road at 100 mph plus.
The only thing i didn't like about the car was the plastic dash pieces and the console.
I didn't even mind that it was red.
He sold it after a couple of years to a guy for what he paid for it...........8 grand.
The new buyer didn't want the 15 X 7 rallye wheels or the broadcast sheet!
He repainted it to the correct lemon twist that it came from the factory in and put on some mags.
He still has it as of a couple of years ago..........
I still have the wheels and the broadcast sheet was lost in a house fire 15 years ago.

Not a MOPAR but back in 1978 I had a chance to buy a 70 Chevelle LS 6/4 speed for $ 500.00 from the insurance company. It was at an alignment shop and over night vandals broke in and threw cinder blocks through the windows and dented the trunk lid. Didn't buy it cause it would cost too much to fix..I have kicked myself many times over that.

I've always loved the wing cars because of how absolutely ridiculous they are. It's hilarious what car companies would do back in the day just to get an edge on the paved oval. They basically took their 2 ton steel brick, bolted a nosecone and a skyscraper spoiler to it, and stuffed a Hemi under the hood. I think the street versions look kind of odd though, with the Rallye wheels and white walls and graphics. But a Daytona with slicks and NASCAR steelies painted to match the livery will get me, every time.
