All,
Bought a pair of the Jegs wheels pictured for my slicks.
Got the slicks mounted, went to put them on the car and realized the lug nut dilemma.
I can't use the same lug nuts as the Billet Specialties wheels, I need an Acorn style lug not for the Jegs Wheels.
Dummy me - If I would've read the whole listing for the wheel, they explain this.

My question is, are the shorter Acorn lug nuts good to use with the 3" wheel studs?
And - are they legal??

Has anyone used these wheels? They look like they are good quality.

Thanks all!!

Wally.

I need 2 of what you need, open ''end lugnuts , 1/2'' by 20 , 1 3/8'' long , 60 degree seat . Also for 3'' studs ...

I use a similar wheel with those same lug nuts on 3” studs. Can’t answer if they are legal or not.

Yes to both questions.

I will say this. When you make a pass or drive the car for several miles, get your torque wrench back on the lug nuts and keep torquing them until they quit coming loose.

Regardless of how well the taper is machined on the lug nuts and and the wheel, that **** moves around until it gets enough load bearing area to stay torqued.

Is that only the case with acorn-style nuts, or do shank style lugnuts loosed too?

Thanks Turk!
Lug nuts are on order along with 2 of the thin wall deep sockets recommended (in case I lose 1)
Appreciate the assistance.

Question : out of curiosity , what do the wheels weigh ???
I`ve got a pair of cherry weld drag stars on the front of my 68 fastback , and am looking for something like draglite or center line , or maybe a thinner spoked wheel , just wanting to change the look a little...

I’m not sure but they are pretty heavy. I should have weighed them before I had the tires mounted but I didn’t.

Jegs says the wheels are not race approved but I see people racing with them all the time. I installed a set of the jegs wheels on my 96 dakota race truck. I bought a lugnut kit with the socket off Amazon Prime. I dont remember about the back. But the front 15x4 was no more than 5 pounds heavier than my weld prostars 15x3 the lug nuts fit great with the 3 inch wheel studs. I got the same lug nut you posted but in black. A picture of my wheel

I’m going to race on my wheels. With cheater slicks. If I was running mid 9’s I wouldn’t do it.

For a high 11 second car they are fine IMO.

I'm fairly certain that the jegs, summit, and vision wheels are all made at the same factory and just rebranded. Here's the wheel specs with weights from vision
Vision Wheel 571 Sport Star II Wheels & 571 Sport Star II Rims On Sale
15 lbs for a 15x4 is not what I would call light (for reference, my 15x3 supertricks are 8 lbs, but certainly NOT streetable!)
17 or 18 for a 15x8 is not bad. I have a pair of old ansens in 15x8.5 that are almost 23, and my 15x8.5 daisies are 19+.
Yet it looks like they have one 15x8 listed at 23lbs. How?

That's a nice looking wheel.
I wonder if it's available without the black?

They are street wheels that give the look of drag wheels, fine if that's what your going for. I have the vision nitros, was gonna buy welds but I have a street car and decided to save some money

You can them in a polished version, but the spokes have a black strip.

I wish you could get a version of this rim in billet instead of cast.
You probably can. Or something very similar. It's called a Weld, and probably three times the price. Or more.
Weld sells some billet rear wheels that cost over $2000, EACH!

I run the Jegs wheels and seen alot of cars here with them as well. Unless your going probably sub 9s or quicker they might crack down more on wheels but I haven't been talked to about mine with open acorns on 3" studs. Think I got my lug nuts as wel off amazon lol just regular lug nuts not the lock ones with a special socket
