The world lost one of the most gifted singers-songwriters thirty years ago today. Sometimes I wonder how much more great music you would have composed if you had lived. R.I.P. John Lennon.

yep,i was 12 yo when they hit in US,was something else and that asshole chapman is still alive, let him out he wont last 5 min

He was a talent. RIP

That happened on my 31th birthday. I became a member of the "establishment", and lost an icon, to boot. :angry7:

Something tells me he would have been worse than Jane Fonda if he were still around.
Have to agree with you,He was a great writer composer, artist, but martordom has a way of making people bigger than they were.John Kennedy is another,in life he never was a great president, but when he was murdered, he became bigger than life.I'm sure that if he were here there would have been two beatles eating dinner with obama. Not trying to take anything from him,but he was an entertainer/political activist.RIP John.

I tend to agree. I never have been a fan. Nothin personal to those who are, I just never have been. Never cared for the Beatles either.

Truly a sad part of history. i was 6 years old and i remember it clearly as if it were yesterday. it really seems the artists that have the most talent and creativity to offer, are the ones we loose all too soon. Thank God we have had people such as John Lennon and Frank Zappa to use their music to put things into the perspectives they did for us. for those who have not watched the U.S. vs John Lennon, watch it! it makes one think that M.D Chapman may not have been the only one who had johns blood on their hands. then Wikipedia "MKUltra". my question is, who would have benefited from John Lennon's death?
look at the parallels of others in our history who fought the establishment and died as a result of it.
"Satan's hand begins the end and frees the world forever. Gomorrah's dream to live in sin Has reached its critical mass. Man himself has become God and laughs at his destruction. In which we trust a secret government
Is now in total collapse" you can stew one this for a while.. Peace!!!!!

OK, I'll really get people stirred up. He was a communist. "Image no posessions( he died owning how many $million of them, that he didn't give away); image no religion (didn't him and george go buddhist? or was it just George?) image no heaven or hell(materialistic, it seems). On and on.
Neglected his son for how many years? Lived in his $2 mill penthouse in the usa, to escape British taxes?. I loved the Beatles, heard I Love You, Yeah YEAh on my first 9 transistor radio in 1964. But he was a hypocrite.

Yeah, yeah... Imagine was the communist manifesto put to music, and he was all those things you claim.
He was also 1/2 of the most successful song writing team in history, and he was the defacto leader of the greatest pop/rock band in history, to date, too.
I like his music, and I liked his band. I'll leave you to worry about all the other stuff that died with him in 1980.

I loved the Beatles. Great music. But when they split, Lennon became all politics/ hypocrite.
