Just Ordered A New Challenger R/T

-
congrats, I bought an 09 RT classic brand new back in 09 lol greats cars mine was $32,340 back then 5.7 6 speed

You are gonna love it! We picked up this white knuckle 2018 T/A 392 with an 8 speed auto and love it! Took it down Route 66, the CA coastal HWY, also had it to the east coast too in Charleston, Tail of the Dragon in TN....really fun car. Got 20k miles on it now, can’t imagine it in the snow but it gets parked during the winter months here in MN. Many stores of people getting more for their Challenger as a trade then what it cost new, I’m sure I could get what I paid new or close, they are in big demand yet and will be as long as they make them...and when they quit, they may get even more expensive!

Lots of wheel options for these cars...I’m not a huge fan of black wheels, I wanted to get some Weld wheels for mine but it’s spendy...plus my matte black wheels look good with all the factory matte black on the body, but someday I’ll change them out. These wheels are T/A 392 only...so they are hard to find. (Most factory challenger wheels all look the same to me LOL) the 2nd picture of the gray car has the look and Weld wheels I like!

Enjoy your new car, you’ll love it, we sure enjoy ours!!

You are going to like it.
I have a 2021 RT, Scat, shaker 6 speed it is a fun car, but I liked the interior better in in my 2012 RT 6 speed.
The layout of the 2021 interior who ever designed it really screwed it up over the older model.
Stupid stuff like the placement of the cup holders make shifting a pain, plus there is no coin holders in the newer one.

Funny, I am about 170 degrees out from you. While I agree with the cup holders in the console being less than the best, I absolutely love the rest of the layout and couldn't buy something older than a 2015 for that reason alone.

For the cup holders, I just limited the size of my drinks and used the cup holder in the door. Not a perfect, but it worked for me. I still used the one in the console sometimes, and even with a 6M it wasn't too bad (for me).

We'll I've been wanting one for 14 years and with the news that they're going to kill the Hemi after the 2023 year I couldn't wait any longer. I figured that it would be a long wait so I ordered one now in anticipation of getting one before the end of 2023. The dealership told me 3 to 6 months! Additionally I've heard that for 2023 R/T there's going to be a $5,000 to $10,000 "market value adjustment" (dealer speak for RIP OFF) and they're saying $10,000 to $15,000 for the Scat Pac models. So I ordered a 5.7 R/T 6 speed manual in Hellrasin purple. Get this, in order to get the leather seats you have to take the Plus Package which gives you a lot of nice options BUT it takes away the only wheels I find acceptable and replaces them with AWFUL BLACK WHEELS!I know that some like the black "murdered out" look but it's not for me. You would think they would have at least 1 chrome wheels option, but no. When I was growing up you had black wheels because you couldn't afford chrome wheels. I will be buying Chrome wheels as soon as my car comes in and selling the back turds. Oh and by the way when you get the Plus Package it necessitates a second pack on top of it sending my affordable Challenger to about $47,000. Regardless I am super excited and can't wait until it comes in. I'll post pictures when it does.

I've heard that a 6 month wait can mean that the factory might not even build the car. So keep us posted.

I have been looking at ordering something myself, but wanted to pay down some other debt first. My wife is insistent that I buy my dream car (WB SP 6M) but I struggle with being ok with the payment. I've looked at a base R/T with the Performance Handling Group and the Nav (just to get the 8.4 without having to add the Plus package). And the Convenience Package just to help with the blind spot. Seemed like it spec'ed out to about the same money as you showed.

In the end, I think that ship sailed when I sold my 2015 R/T and I will probably just upgrade and drive my Duster.

I absolutely love the idea of a T/A. But I think Dodge should have made it more special with a different version of the 5.7 only. Give it the 6.4 cam, intake and exhaust, suspension similar to what the WB SP get's and the 6 piston brakes. Only options would be leather, sunroof and A8. That would have fit the image of the T/A (in my mind).

Either way, beautiful cars and I wouldn't say no to one.

I think they should have used a T/A style hood...MoPar used to sell them...side exhaust would have been cool too. I agree on the 5.7...could have gave it more “go”There are lots on this car to set it apart though once you start looking at them. I think 2017 and 2018 they were real T/A cars according to the window sticker and title...now the T/A is a “package”...I think it’s called a Dodge Challenger R/T Plus T/A or something like that....kinda weird.

They make a new Challenger called the JailBreak....I think you can personalize it more than any models before, can even change the color of the seatbelts and it has the hellcat engine, think around 800hp too....there was one near me parked behind the dodge dealer but it was sold

Yep, HC only and starts at $84K

I agree. Just wish there had been a performance bump to it as well. But they took the easy way out and just offered the big motor as well.

The 5.7 with a different cam/intake/exhaust probably requires new certifications and such. Why spend the time and money (and then pass the cost on) if the 392 will give the customer more anyway.

I've always been more on the performance end of the scale, so an R/T for me would be a 6M with the Performance Handling Group and NAV (so I can use the Performance Pages). Probably spring for the Convenience Group just for the piece of mind, but the Plus Package and the rest of it don't add anything for me. Trouble is, my basic R/T spec's out at $42.9K while a no option SP is only $45.7.

Funny thing on the cup holder saga, I put a fire extinguisher in the passenger door one, it fits perfectly! Mine is a 15 Scat. I just took it on a 500 plus mile trip and averaged 24mpg. I love it but we plate and insure seven cars and are thinking about thinning the herd. With right at 25thousand miles I might do pretty good selling it. Wife says it or the Cuda has got to go. The thing is just so darn fun to drive and comfortable that I am not sure on selling it. It has the performance package and all the cool stuff. Man is it fun to drive. And you know it is Sublime! Hah!

Cost on everything is up, for what I paid for the scat, could have had a hellcat a year before.
Insurance is way expensive on the hellcat is the reason I never bought one.
I pay $677 a year insurance on my hellcat I got it under classic muscle car under Chrome insurance

That is reasonable, I think I am paying $400 a year on my Scat.
Sad thing is I pay less then $50 a year on alot of my antique cars.

Insurance insurance on my SRT8 320 a year on it and it's locked in at 45,000 actual costs and places what I'll get it's a 2009 model that I bought new

I sold my 2013 SRT Core recently when values went nuts. Hoping to replace it with an A body.

We'll I just got my VIN number. It seems it's SUPPOSED to be built on 6/28/22 but I'm not holding my breath. The salesman ordered a new Jeep Wrangler for himself and it came in in a month. Hopefully I'll get lucky. They told me 3 to 6 months but I've found out that the big hold up is sun roofs, which I didn't order on mine.

I got an email a couple days ago that said mine has started the assembly process. The dealer told me they have received some in as little as 2 months?? I didn’t order a sunroof either and it’s been a month so we’ll see.

Got my fingers crossed for you! I hope mine is built in a timely fashion. I have however saw on the Challenger forum that people find out that their cars are sitting in a holding lot for 2 months!!

When I ordered my 2021 Charger Daytona, took close to 4 months from start to being delivered. In fact it was just delivered the day before Father’s Day last year. I was able to track the progress of when it was being built, interior, stereo, sunroof, engine, paint and the Daytona decals.

Did you order your Challenger with the optional 19 Harman Kardon® GreenEdge® Speakers, Harman Kardon® GreenEdge® Amplifier with Surround Sound?
