For those that have Kirkey seats in their A body - how did you mount it to the floor safely? I know I'm not going to merely bolt it to the floor. Any fastener will have some sort of support plate under it to prevent tearing through the floor in the event of a crash.

I have the #55170 seat and #99214 brackets. There's also a bracket that ties the seat back to the roll bar but I'm not concerned with that just yet, I need to get the seat mounted before I can start on that. I understand how the brackets mount to the seat but mounting them to the floor has me scratching my head.

I figure I'm going to have to fabricate some sort of flat base to put the brackets onto but I'm having trouble visualizing how to go about it. There are a lot of different elevations in the floor and from what I can tell, it might be tricky to get the seat centered to the steering wheel.

Guess I'm really looking for detailed pics and descriptions of how you executed mounting the seat.

Thanks for any input and/or suggestions!

I made wedge shaped aluminum brackets to get the angle I wanted, then used generic sliders from Jegs or Summit.

When I put the roll bar in I made a bracket that welded to the cross bar and bolted to the seat back.

I have the same seat in my Dart. I also bought the Kirkey floor brackets but discovered there was no way to use them. I had to fabricate a flat plate mount with spacers between the forward and aft mounting points ( longer spacers/bolts in the rear due to floor curve). Bolted the seat directly to the flat plate, then bolted front and rear through the floor pan (with spacers/longer bolts) with 1/8 inch flat bar running between the bolts on the exterior side of the floor for added rigidity. Adapted my old roll bar mount to the Kirkey seat. Works well.
