So, I was turning my 360 over by hand at the Balancer bolt. I tightened the bolt with a Breaker bar, and most likely went tighter than the torque spec. Can you back the bolt off a little, or does the Balancer press on ( no sense in loosening) when tightening??
Thanks

Balancer presses on but tightening the bolt causes the balancer to bottom out on the lower timing chain sprocket. Backing off without a torque wrench to re-torque to spec would be worse than leaving it as-is.

Ok, I do have a torque wrench. I'll back it off a little and re-torque

I can’t imagine that just turning the engine over with a breaker bar would over torque the bolt !
You do realize what the torque spec for the harmonic balancer bolt is ,,it’s rather high ?

If that bolt got tighter by turning the engine over by the bolt, either the engine was locked up, or the bolt was never tight in the first place. I think you can just leave it alone, but if it makes you feel better, loosen then retorque. Probably have to block the flywheel or starter gear to get it loose and definitely will to get it to torque spec.

I agree. If this was the case wow. You have problems. The motor was locked up like the ones on YouTube rescue shows where cars was sitting 30 year's outside
