Made it to the semi finals last night bracket racing. All I had to do is beat this fast race bike and I was in the money. He was over a second faster than me so I left first by quite a bit. Good, tree, car pulling so good I'm afraid I'm going to breakout. I glance back for the bike as I'm nearing the traps and can't see him anywhere he's so far back (or so I thought) so I pedaled it once to keep from breaking out. He came flying past me and took the stripe by .01! I cussed myself the whole way home, but next time I'm in this situation I think I would rather breakout than give somebody the stripe in this way. Go ahead and call me stupid, I already have.....all the way home! (and it was an hour drive)

Naaaaa, you tried and gave it the best shot and chance you thought possible. It is what it is and that is stupid close! Better luck next time. No worries, just go and gettem!

Well you can't second guess everything!! How close were you to your breakout?

Don't second guess your self. I have lost many times both ways. Cussed my self for not lifting and cussed myself for lifting. I always do best going with my gut. Hey its racing. Not a person out there that doesn't make a wrong decision.

Life's OK,this is supposed to be fun. Extra dinero, makes it just more exceptonal.

hahaha, hey. Last year I won the race in ET that Close but lost it because of a bit worse reaction time. made second place in the finals. Thats racing. Thats part of it. Thats also fun.... :)

there probly ain`t many bracket racers that haven`t done that. a long time ago, a fairly big time Chrysler backed dragracer told me to never pedal it, but stay in in and easily get on the brakes while staying in it. thot I`d pass that along --------

Hard to judge a car coming faster from behind- much less a bike
Easier when you are the chaser- everything is happening in front of you
I say keep in it unless you really dialed a lot slower- if you cut a better light he willl break out more.......?

Keep you chin up! You are either Winning, or your Learning! loosers don't try!

We all have lost on both side of that scale. The more you make that last micro second decision the more times it will be right. :coffee2:

This is the way I do it as well. I never lift the throttle and just gradually put more brake pressure down as I near the stripe. Works great on cars that are not way faster.

I run "Box" class every once in a while. If I am running a dragster or something way faster that I know I wont be able to judge at the stripe, I just dial it one number faster than I think the car will run, and I dont even lift or hit the brakes if the other car is anywhere close to me.
Works about 75% of the time.
