LSx Valiant Build. Take a look inside...

-
I see you ran into the very reason I wuit the ls build on my car. Upside down manifolds was all I could run or custom headers etc... the cost was over welming for me to stick with it all. Insold all my ls stuff at a profit and went newgen hemi. My plans was always 1200+rwhp turbocharged. So I had no intentions to keep a stock ls short block. Currently the newgen hemi is a better deal now than an ls swap parts for parts if your after big power and reliability. If your staying in the relm of under 800hp ls will work fine but not without exhaust being custom or upside down.

Fwiw a stock oil pan from a gto fit perfectly on my setup. So did the proflo under my stock hood. I think the holley ram would clear as well as I had inches left still above the proflo.

Below was my blasphemous build I got shunned on as well. Anothe forum made it over 100 pages of mopar purists cried foul....many from this very site. Lol. Love the idea but hate the fab work. Ill be watching to see if you stick with it or change direction as I did.

Oh I also ran motor and midplates and sti didnt have room for much exhaust to fit with the torsion bars.

Dillingerchassis.com has cheap coilover conversion kits you can look into. As well as qa1 tubular k member for only 600 bucks. Budget way to go and gain under engine room. That gear box is an absolute ***** for sure. Always rack n pinion to choose.

If the goal is eventually turbo, why not just use the 5.3l LS4 exhaust manifolds and route up and in front the steering box.

Left side(front) W-body 5.3, LS4, Grand Prix GXP | Monte Carlo SS | Impala SS | LaCrosse Super.
- pn#12569073 (this setup requires 2 of these manifolds)

This is LS1Nova's 900+ RWHP setup over on LS1tech and yellowbullet, pro-touring, ect.

F-body alternator & bracket, waterpump and balancer.

Just a lowly 1971 Nova street/drag/autocross car that runs 9.90's@140 with a 5.3L and a turbo.

(It is now running a L33 5.3L. At the time of this article it was a budget LQ9 6.0l)

Looks good and inexpensive at that!

Not to steal the thread but back to the tank. I found one at tank inc, just like the one pictured from Rock Valley. I ordered the tank, pump and insert for a bit over 400.

Sorry for the interuption. Now back to the build.

have any pictures of it??

The tank is on back order. On the tanksinc.com site it looks just like the one that was posted on #165. You just have to cut and weld in the insert.

I went to the site and didn't see that one. Saw a different type. Maybe I missed it.

these?? ok those are the ones i saw. different then the rock valley ones but should do the trick..

If you are going to Boost it. You might want to re think your fuel pump situation. Buy it once and be done. I have 3 Walbro GSL 392's that are for my TT Small Block. This set up is good for about 1400HP Boosted EFI HP. I found that lots of guys use this set up on theturboforums.com , The pumps are $100.00 Each.

Ignore the haters, im doing a similar swap into a 1973 Dart. The new efi HEMIS just dont cut it.

Here is our solution for the same clearance issues you encountered, we had this issue (see pic of rack and column clearance) with a VK i built for my wife..

This car has a internally std ls1 (other than cam and springs), makes 700rwhp on 6psi. Has done 2000 race kilometers (circuit racing kms) and is super reliable.

Sweet build! I had some comments about it, but they were sensored, so I just wanted to say, I am planning on putting chevy LS motors in all my cars! Its the wave of the future!

Driftcat, you're a cutiepie.

I joined to be among enthusiasts (we tune all makes and models), ive owned cars from all manufacturers including a 440 vg valiant (dart) coupe, e38 charger and a 72 pillar-less phoenix (so nothing flash) but still mopar none the less, its a fact certain years from certain manufactures are definitely better than other so it pays to keep an open mind... especially when one travels allot. We generally spend a 1/4 of each year in other countries and if you cant learn new things and appreciate the wider scene... your not really living.. your merely existing.

The new 73 Dart is also not high on the mopar fame list but a daily driver that gets excellent fuel economy and runs 9's (1/4et) (like my wifes GM) sounds tough as and remains perfectly reliable should keep me smiling much like the owner of this threads build..

Any updates on the valiant? I read through the posts. I used s10 lsx swap headers. I will be using the factory power steering box too.
