Does anyone know if a set of Magnum headers will bolt up to LA "J" heads? I'm planning on doing a single turbo set-up and looking for an easier way to do the exhaust. I saw a Dakota that had a 340 with Magnum heads and he turned the mid-length headers around and was able to route to the turbo fairly easy. Thought this might work for me.

Well if you look at the mag exhaust flange you'll see the 2 center ports are spaced quite a bit more so......
Then again I've heard [not seen] others claims that they work fine.

The corner that is knocked off on the center ports is smaller on magnum heads but otherwise they are just about the same. I have no problem sealing LA headers on magnum heads which should be more of an issue than the other way around.

3404spdvaliant, just to repond to your signature line. Magnum heads are the best flowing of the factory sb heads and have much much more detonation resistant chamber design than J heads or any of the 340/360 open chamber heads for that matter. You typically see a 20-30 HP gain by bolting on magnum heads.

The porting numbers I have seen the magnum head tends to loose their advantage as you get to a maximum ported configuration but if you need those kind of flow numbers there are better choices from the aftermarket.

There is a reason that all the competitors this year in the Mopar Muscle sb dyno challenge that used factory heads used magnum heads and no one used a J heads.

DGC333 thanks for your opinion, Which is all it is.
I know you run these, so your response doesn't shock me.
stock cracknum's flowing more than a set of x heads that flow 204-220 depending on who does the valve job?wa..waa...wooohy.... Why I fell of my chair laughing at that one wooooh!
I don't even need to get in to the rest of +/- which even if they flowed the same would out weigh the closed chamber.
Thanks for that. That being your hilarious opinion.

Shoot, I remember him from MoparChat.com. Watch out, he's a joker.

Yes I use them I have access to both and after much research the magnum head was the best choice for a hot street car.

Not going to get into a pissing contest with you but stock magnum heads untouched flowed 236I 134E at .5" lift same at .6" lift. Heads with a 3 angle valve job and bowl blend flowed 239I 148E at .5" and 246I 149E at .6". This is with the 1.92 intakes. They also have a significant advantage at the lower lifts too.

Plus when all the top engine builders in a dyno challenge that choose to use factory heads to get the cost advantage factor, go with magnums that tells me they are the hot ticket.

Too many magazines for you duder.
BTW if the nag exhaust is so much better why do the ojd heads flow 145 ex?
My x heads mildy ported flow 198@.300 237@.400 242@.450! 185@.500
Show me your flow # sheet and I will show you mine.
Any one else have magical mag'em heads that flow unreal #'s?
