Magnumforce K-Member

i'm sure you lose a little radius with the alter-k but i have never had any problems turning into anyplace or parking. not sure how tight you actually need to turn. i've never had to turn so far that its ever been a problem. don't know what other kinds of problems you have heard about the systems but i can tell you have never driven or even ridden in a car with an alter-k in it.

Thanks. I was thinking of eventually using that set-up, just wasn't certain if it was worth the expense. Is it really any lighter than a lightened, stock K-memebr, though?

i don't think you'll save much weight in the k-frame itself. the place you save weight is no more steering box, centerlink idler/pitman arms. you eliminate all that and just have a rack. even going from stock power steering to a power rack has to save quite a bit of weight.

Other than if you opted for the use of a motor plate instead of motor mounts(which was my plan) what "fabrication skills" are needed? as far as I see it's a bolt-in deal isn't it??

Not counting assembly of course.

As others have mentioned already, the Magnumforce K member puts more stress on the upper shock mount, possibly more than it was designed for. Seems like Magnumforce is now recommending these forward bars for their installation, definitely not bolt in....

Hmmmm.......... is this a bit of info on our mystery cuda?

the last post on the page.

Edit: Why didn't I just copy & paste this in the first place?............

I used the AlterKation on my 72 Road Runner and it is great, no problems at all. I was at Goodguys Lone Star in October and met a guy with a silver cuda that was really upset with the magnumforce set-up he was backing in to a parking spot and a pin had shirred off on the a-frame.

Could be more info on that Cuda, sounds like it anyway. But realistically, it still doesn't tell us much about what happened. Did the pin itself shear, or did a weld fail where the pin mounts, did magnumforce make or buy the pin, etc. It's a failure for sure, that seems pretty certain. But how the failure happened, and what part failed, are still important things to know.

-45 deg. camber.........for ultimate corner carving. I saw a Porsche on the back of a flat bed truck w/ all 4 wheels at -45 deg. camber. Maaad G's yo

It's a copy of the RMS alter-k. They just used round tubing instead of the square that Bill uses. They bought one of his systems, changed it just enough & sell it has their own design. I'll stick with the original..

I'm wondering when these guy's will get the A body track the same as the original so you dont need special wheels with 9000 inches of back spacing to fit it inside the fender!

call RMS. i believe he sells a wilwood hub bow that is really really close to where the stock one sits. also when you order an alter-k you can request that he shorten the control arms some which pulls the wheels in some too. but you have to call him and talk to him about it for the finer details.

What about a custom hub? Kore3 will build a custom billet hub to your specs. I don't know what the Wilwood hub is like and if there is any room to adjust the track via the hub, but it's an option, maybe.
