I have a '73 scamp and the rear frame rails are shot. They are not safe to drive on. We got the car about a year ago, and it had been sitting for many years before we got it. The whole new frame rails from Auto Rust Technicians isnt in my price range. Since we have to go this far we are probably just going to cage and tub it. Is there any tips anyone can think of on making our own out of 2"x3" rectangle tubing? Otherwise, the car is off the road for another period of time. thanks

The auto rust tech rails are not frame rails for replacement, but caps for the "band aid fix" Make up your own frame rails with the box tubing. Best bet.

fastkid400,
I'm going to cut the trunk pan out of a 72 4 dr. Valliant this Friday. If I cut a little extra and got both frame rails out with the pan the charge might be a not whole lot extra. PM me you want me to check tomarrow. They would be shipped from Houston 77088.

S&W race cars sells bent frame rales for leafs or ladder bars for your car. They arent very expensive either.

here in the land of rust, otherwise know as Eastern Canada, thats pretty common place...same thing on my '75 duster...
First I cut the trunk pans out...then cut the frame rails and rear crossmember off just where it starts to straighten out after coming over the wheel...
made frame rails and rear crossmember from scratch and attached to existing frame using plates
install new floor pans...

Wow, I got the trunk pan from qtr. to qtr. and from the bumper to the cross braces just behind the seat for $16. :blob: Sorry, didn't cut the extra for the whole frame, but if you can use what I do have..you can have it .
