Or like I was just mentioning maybe the front metering rods need a weaker spring?
 
Also I should add that there are no vacuum ports whatsoever being used on either one of the carburetors if that makes any difference...
 
wow... just wow. So put a boost gage on it and see how much boost your forced induction is giving ya.....

Maybe I can borrow your forced induction boost gauge?
LOL, just some turbulence causing some uneven conditions which could be causing a lean condition up front...

You are not getting as much air as a nice "ram air" system. Like people that run a funnel system through the head light. Or a sealed carb to hood/hood scoop. And as far as turbulence, people try to get turbulence - - or vortex into the intake. Like certain throttle body spacers for that purpose..
 
In your theory, then just use the progressive system making your rear carb your primary. That way the front air cleaner will work like a wind jammer for the rear carb, problem solved.

I think he should turn the front carb around to face the rear carb. This will allow the tunnel ram to act like a 6pac intake with the outboard carbs for wot and the center controlling the low speed cruise.
 
I watched a really good video doing dyno tests with different air cleaner designs. All designs that allowed the air to come straight down in the carb vs around and then down made a significant improvement. A velocity stack or a "salad bowl" with a lid type filter was the most improved and actually made more power than a open carb. I will look and see if I can find the video again

I actually put a velocity stack on my Duster last year on back to back runs. The velocity stack slowed it up by a tenth... could have been just that run, but bottom line is it showed no gain. So much goes into play.... neat video!

That is interesting. I wonder if It has something to do with the air temp under the hood vs an engine on a stand in a dyno environment? That would have to change thing imo.

I never had it in my head about a ram air system. I just was thinking at 70 miles an hour on the freeway holding steady if I was to stick my arm out the window with that air filter in my hand and held it as if it was on the hood of my car there'd be a little resistance there I would think?..

yep. Pulled the air cleaner and tried it for a run. Guy I've known for 25 years at the drag strip wanted me to try it from his Nova. That's what I'm about, test and tune... LOL
 
j par Now how can you disagree with the above post when it is EXACTLY what you think is the problem?? turn the scoop backwards and there will be no 65 mph wind hitting your air cleaner causing all that turbulence. Give some people the exact solution to "their" problem and they disagree.... :D :D :D
 
I run that scoop. I love it!

Thats why i said just pull the filters off and try it.

Disagreed on this exact solution...
I know I have read before where people have a scoop like Cope has and don't have a pass through and were getting different kinds of readings and results.
I never said it was a fact that that was what was happening I was just posing it as a possibility. And definitely didn't feel I had some kind of super duper Ram air system going on....
I just thought there was a possibility of the pounding win right there at the front causing some kind of pressure drop or something that didn't get fuel to flow as it's supposed too?..

I'm just having fun tuning on it and enjoying the results. I don't have a "problem". It just looks like I'm experiencing need for normal adjustments for the changes that I've made...

Yes dual quad tunnel Rams and gold rims do go together, no question...
