So I have been looking for work for two days and I think I have a tentative agreement on a contract to service another major retailer in the Raleigh area. I have sent over the required documentation and am awaiting a response. This company is also a large national retailer and they were very interested in my services. I used to work for them before when I worked for their sub contractors who in turn took the money and ran and I was not paid for work completed. After explaining the situation of what happened with the folks who hold the contracts and award them, they were very anxious to get me the paperwork and I have just sent it in. Hopefully I'll be back at work soon! This would be an awesome Christmas present.

Yes Yes, this is great news!! And quick too, must be a testament to your professionalism!! Hope you get the contract, it would be a nice Merry Christmas present for sure!! Geof

Great news ....hearing that you lost the other one and were having problems was making me sad.

really really hope it all works out and in good time too :glasses7:

It really helps if you have a small business to have a web site and I also have a Facebook page in which I use to promote my small business and get my customer reviews out to the public. I also have a BBB A+ rating and even though some would say that don't mean anything, It really helps when you are trying to "Sell" your business to other companies.

Duster, I nearly mentioned this the other day. I realize fully you need a job, work, money. But in my opinion, doing independent work for most "big box" stores is not where you should be heading IN THE LONG run.

I don't think any of this type of situation generates much loyalty from a company, and they have WAY better lawyers than you can afford

Sears, both when I was in San Diego, and up here in this area, doesn't have a very good track record of installations. I quit buying much of anything from Sears YEARS ago, and certainly won't be buying anything requiring delivery or installation.

Just some food for thought.

Can you do are learn HVAC/R service? Maybe learn if necessary, maybe approach some local companies as an "auxiliary" serviceman in peak times, maybe lead later to full time?

You a licensed electrician? Can you BECOME one?

That could branch you out in several areas, including building controls and fire/ alarm system.s

I can do HVAC and Reefer but do not have current CFC cert in NC. I was looking into getting into more of the repair industry. I went for an interview today before the contract news and was interviewed and offered a position that only would start me at 26K/yr. I cannot survive on 26,000. I will go with this contract if I get it and we will see where it goes. I do understand what you are saying about big box stores but it seems as though they get the bulk of the sales and the little guys either have a guy they have been using for 15-20 yrs or just are not hiring period or are gone (Out of business)

One door closes and a window opens on a new opportunity. Great news!

Great news, fingers and toes are crossed and more prayers

Excellent news!! may Santa bring the paperwork pronto!! Lawrence
