I find it interesting that the emblem states 270 HP for a 4bbl 318, only 5 less than the advertised HP for a 340. This must have been a high compression version 318.

Interesting car.....
I love the Mexican a bodies. They are definitely different.

I like the car, but would hate to see what the reserve is!! He has been in touch with Galen. Plus, he has had the title for a whole week, and it's already listed on Ebay. Flipper!!

If he's been in touch with galen a year ago, he's probably still waiting for him to respond. LOL.

Me, I find it interesting that he talks up the swept-back C-pillars, but this car hasn't got them. For comparison, see this car on the Mexican eBay site, which does have the swept-back C-pillars. Looks to me as if this guy doesn't know what he's talking about. If I had to guess (which I do), I'd say he found he bit off a lot more than he could chew.

the man is right it does not have the swept-back C-pillars, makes you wonder???

I seen a 69 dart in Mexico that had the round gauges like a Barracuda, budged hood like 69 but instead of plastic 340 call out in the opening it had 270 HP molded into the bottom of the opening

I tried to find the owner. It was at a business that delivered fuel to gas stations. The guy working there didn't speak english and I spoke no spainish, basicly all I got was he was not there. I went back by a few times and never seen the car again.

I agree, if the swept back C pillar is so special, why doesn't he have good pix of it. What pix he's got aren't that good.

Run Forrest Run!!!!

It is the extremely rare 7 cylinder south of the border express--- is it just me or is a plug wire missing off the distributer cap?
that auction just doesn't work for me--- Lawrence

he says all original.
was orig red or maroon by the looks of the vin ## tag ????

Maybe a stolen US car that was taken to Mexico and reserialized with a wrecked car there?

I don't think so; I think it's a real Mexican car. Spend some time looking at the pics and you can start to count up little differences between this car and US/Canada-built ones. Take a look at the firewall, for example…also see the Prestolite alternator, though of course that could've been swapped on later. The 318 and 270hp badges are genuine Mexican-production items, though as with the GTS badge we don't know if they're original to this car. Interior clues include the km/h speedometer, the upholstery, the lack of head restraints and seatbelts, the different handbrake handle…

But I did just notice the seller is calling himself "West Coast Mopar" and claiming to be a full-service restoration shop specialising in custom builds and kit cars. Which, together with "needs total restoration", reinforces my earlier guess: this guy bit off way more than he could chew. If it were practicably restorable, why sell it as a project? Why not do the work and sell for big bucks?

As for Galen Goober, put me on the list of people who don't give a flying fig what he thinks and aren't impressed by his self-proclaimed "guru" title.

I sold a 68 Dart to this guy and it was a mess. He turns around and tries to sell it for 4 times what I sold it for. LOL. Steer clear. Just glad I got what I wanted for the 68 shell.

His resto work is shotty to boot if you look at his pictures.:thebirdm:

hmm weird car, dana 44 and 318 4 spd. is that combo possible?? I thought the dana 44's were only in jeeps

Remember, the cars built outside North America had many deviations from home-market practice in terms of parts supply and specification, assembly technique, finish details, etc.

didn't the body styles run a few years behind the US built cars? Like an early 70's car had the look of a later 60's US car?

bet it runs like crap on 7 cylinders

I think the 270 HP designation is not for 270 horsepower, spanish for horsepower is "caballos de fuerza" I think it is a dart 270, Hp for high performance. My two cents worth.
