Hey guys, thinking of milling about 10 cc off my 188 j heads to raise the comp in my 360 a bit.At this cut will it afect my intake fitting and having valve train issues. What can i exspect from this cut. Also the guy i got the heads from said they were milled some, how can I, or the machienst know. After I found out from here thoes heads for my 318 would not be so good the seller said ya they been milled. So in short I dont know if they been milled.Any thoughts.

CC the heads to find out where you are at before cutting.... then you will have a base line and will know exactly what compression ratio you are running or want to run. The machinist should do all of the this for you. If you take so much off then you will have to take so much off the intake side... another machinist job. lol!

I have the math around here somewhere but maybe moper or BJR Racing will chime in.

We would have to have them in our hands to tell you how much has been milled off of them and then we could go from there, other wise were all just shooting in the dark.

And then the man chimes in...:read2:

72bluNblu, good post

Before the heads are assembled get the head gaskets you are going to use and put the heads on the block and put the intake on there with the gaskets you will be using. That way you can make sure it will all work before the heads are assembled.
