Will a milodon oil pan fit in an a body (scamp) without any grinding to the k frame? I was told you have to do some grinding to the lip on the k frame. :dontknow: Anybody here have any problems? Thanks Brett

I don't know about the later a-bodys but I had to notch my k-frame on my '65 Valiant, not grind, notch. About 2" x 2" notch on the passenger side to clear the front corner of the pan.

I had to notch mine on a 75. I think the diff on notching is the spool engine mounts to the flat style.

zhandfull, thats the pan I have. How much did you grind off? do you have any pics? Thanks for the replys guys. Brett

I had to notch my 68 bcuda's k frame. It was a nightmare with headers, scattershield and Milodon street/strip pan getting the motor down in the engine bay. I would look into moroso pan. it's rounded at least. It seems a little lower though.

Milodon pans are nice. But I had to notch my K-member in front on the pass. side to clear the corner of the pan. It was a nightmare with Hedman headers. Some brands will fit better. So I went to a Moroso pan. Since switching to TTI headers, I went back to a Milodon. It all depends on what headers you have. But I may have a used Moroso pan for sale.

Sorry no pictures on the notch job handy but it wasn't to bad just the lip of the K frame near the front corners of the pan I did both sides just in case there was any motor movement I wanted at least 1/2" clearance

I recommend the Moroso pan to if you haven't already bought a pan

thanks for the replys guys. Since i already have the pan, i guess i will be doing some notching. thanks again. Brett :thumblef:

Locomotion or anyone else who has used both the eight quart moroso and milodon. How much difference is there in ground clearance between the two?

The Milodon is almost an inch shallower than the Moroso but will keep the oil the same distance away from the crank because it's flared out at the bottom. What I never liked about the Moroso is the drain plug going up from the bottom of the pan instead of from the side like Milodon or many OEM pans. The head hanging down that extra little bit provides a nice little "catch" for the asphalt. I ripped out one plug when I had to drop off the edge of a return road to let a jr. dragster by and have pushed the drain plug up a bit when I smacked the pan on dry hops! The finish on the Milodon is also so much nicer than the painted, rust-prone Moroso. That's why I was so happy to get the TTI headers, which cleared the Milodon pan.

Milodon also has another version of that pan that is about another inch shallower. They just recently came out with it.

How difficult was it to fit the hedmans with the milodon pan? What other headers are people running with this pan (other than tti's) that actually fit well?

lol
Not sure what else will fit. I had the multi-piece race headers and had to beat the heck out of BOTH the headers and pan. It wasn't a pretty sight. Hedman does have a footnote that says many of their headers won't fit pans with a kick-out.

I have a fresh 340 sitting on an engine stand with this same Milodon pan and a set of Hooker's street headers. I had to flatten the snot out of the innermost driver's side tube to clear the kick-out and I'm still concerned that it might be a smidgen too close. No comment on notching the K-Member; I haven't gotten that far with this particular installation yet.
