Emailed Mr Bloomer Monday. I asked for some pictures of his ports and asked if he could measure the pushrod tunnel. Told him I wanted to know a little more.

Well it's late Wednesday and he has not replied. I'm telling ya...this guy does not want to sell any heads. Or he doesn't need to.

If necessary, does anyone know who might be able to get a pair of Speed master or Promaxx out the door Quick-like?

If this cam regrind doesn't work, and i have a feeling it will NOT........I'm sick and tired of f#$&ing around. I spent good money on really good parts. A whole lot of time, and I have to make it all work as planned. I'll never be able to forgive myself for "settling".

This friggin thread is going to end with a real nice dyno sheet attached if it's the last thing I do.

Actually, later on I checked ALL of them. Got anywhere from. 601 to .628. 9 of them were below .610. They were ,in technical terms, all jacked up.
Reminds me of the MP hemi rockers I had back in the day. One of them was 1.39 lol

I message Rod on fb and he replied within 15 minutes. Maybe try that

I don't have Facebook and I never ever ever plan to get on Facebook. If that's the only place he does business, that he's missing out on customers

i emailed Rod last week and he responded in 40 minutes. Emailed all day back and forth about his heads. I'm going to get a set sometime this summer.

I always just call Rod, never had any trouble getting in touch.

Keeping all fingers crossed that the new heads will do it for you! And I second L4 that it would be damn interesting to see the results before and after...

thank you for sharing this! I expect a win / win situation for you and Rod Bloomer....did you tell bullet about the new heads and the flow data?

Michael

Bare. Non off set rockers. Brand new 1.6 hand checked by Hughes.....no way am i going through the expense and trouble of new, off -set rockers.

Just going to swap my valves, springs and retainers and should be good to go. I will have to have my machinist mill them. They are 70cc chambers and I'm set up for 68. Don't think he'll have to take off too much.

Got ahold of Tim at Bullet just before they were going to regrind the cam. Stopped him just in time. He did put it on their CamPro machine just to make sure it was accurate. No charge. Sent me the print out with the cam.

I got lucky a week ago and a real smallblock MOPAR head specialist guy offered to take a look at the Eddys before I started to epoxy them. His advice was, where I want to be just wasn't gonna happen with those heads. No epoxy or regrind was going to get me what I want. He actually said as they are, they'll be a nice head for someone building a 4-500 HP motor......dual plane intake .......the more usual type of build. I
Mean really, they DID make 560 HP.

No sense possibly ruining them with epoxy. So I bit down hard and called Rod Bloomer. And of course I will dyno the thing. Hopefully in 2 weeks or so. Maybe less..

Monetary LOSS is really not much, since im using all the valve gear, but added cost of the Bloomers really drives this engine up there.

I might just buy some new 2.08 intake valves, install the original Edelbrock springs and sell them to someone building the right motor for them. Main goal right now is to get this thing back together, back on the dyno, and hopefully.....between the framerails.

Talk about cutting it close!

Oh hell yeah. He thought it was a good decision. Still thought his cam regrind would have helped, but nowhere near just a better all around head.

So this MoPar had guy said the big mouth heads were more suited for a very high horsepower belt, correct?

I don't think Ironmikes heads are the big mouths just the full cnc standard port, hence why he doesn't have offset rockers

this confuses me? The bloomers have a of set rocker because of the pushrod relocation, right? So he will need to get the offset rockers.

Ironmike, those heads were the big mouth heads. right? Or just standard eddys with the full CNC job done to them???

glad you got ahold of bullet before they reground the cam. so the next dyno run will be a close to true comparison between the heads...not perfect though because the first rockers were off. shoot, maybe run both rockers on the next dyno run to see how much power you pick up...

Are you going to have the BPE heads flowed ? It would be interesting to see them tested by an independent shop. Personally I'd be more inclined to believe Rod's advertised numbers than Hughes'.

Eddy's were NOT big mouths. Just the full CNC.And the head guy sain NOT good for high HP, or I'd be using them........
Good for a typical smallblock build with a dual plane intake. Like 90 percent of all builds, probably.

If ya read back, you'll see the heads made 560 horsepower which is NOT where I plan to be. The problem is, that's about their limit now, thanks to Hughes........

cool progress. I think a single pattern cam is cool. thanks for the info! did U get the Victor intake? and the new dyno test will have the 4" exhaust instead of the 8". on dyno day try as much stuff as financially possible
