I am swapping 1973 Duster front disc brakes into my 1966 Valiant. What lower ball joints do I need? Do I need ones for a 73 duster? The valiant had small 9 inch drums, are they the same? Will other years work? Thanks! Keith.

You need the special lower control arm along with the lower ball joint. That should work. I just changed on a 65 Dart conv and that worked out just fine

If your current lower ball joint is in good shape you can drill out the spindle mounting holes to accept the larger bolts on the 73 disk spindle or use the 73 spindle.

It's the upper control arm you need to accept the larger ball joint used by the 73 disk brake spindle your lower control arm is fine.

I changed my front drum brakes on my 1964 Valiant to a set of discs from a 1975 Duster, and what I did was to leave existing lower control arm and lower balljoint from 1964 Valiant, and replace spindle, upper balljoint and upper control arm with units from 1975 Duster.

Not if you are willing to drill out the spindle mounting holes for the larger bolts used to attached the disk brake spindle. Other than the hole size the lower ball joints are the same.

My recomendation would be to rebuild the entire front unless it's been down recently.

So I should be able to use my 1966 Valiant lower control arms, and my 1973 Duster balljoints and disc brake spindles? I am using tubular upper arms with the large balljoint, I am also rebuilding the entire front end. Thanks for the help guys!
