Assembling my 3100 lb 69 Dart hoping to have it running by July 4th, curious as to what MPG I can expect.

408 stroker (Magnum) .574 cam 1.6 rockers, .298 duration @.50 .236
-dynod at 484HP, 490ft/lbs, half filled block
-roller cam, hyd lifters
Edel performer heads, work done at Modern Cyl Head
-flow #s
intake: 245/.400 exh: 193.8
intake: 276.3/.500 exh: 217.1
intake: 293.2/.600 exh: 232.0
intake: 296.8/.700 exh: 238.2
950cfm APD carb
TTI headers
ATI converter, 10" 2800 stall, plan is to run 26.5-27" tall tires and 3.73s.
904 trans, with steeper first gear

I think HP and torque numbers have room for improvement with solid lifters b/c head numbers look really good I was "told".

Will run on 93 oct with race fuel or fuel additive as supplement.

street car, will see track twice a year.

MPG thoughts?

Depends on the tuning, the car setup, and the driver. I'd expect 12-15 if it was mine.

I think a 70 Swinger 340 got 13 MPG claimed from Chrysler. Or somewhere in that range.

My old 440+6 was 450hp & got 15 in an E body. I drove it every day for a few years. My customers have gotten 17 from a 480hp 422. 13+ from a 550hp 496. Both in heavier E bodies.

depends on how much you are mashing the skinny pedal, i'd guess an average of 10 mpg between having fun and cruising around

Wire the secondaries shut and put some fast-burn 87E10 in it. Put some 28s on the back and 3.55s.Put a TQ on it and lean it out til it bucks. Then add just a smidge of gas back in.Crank the cruise timing to minimum 50*
Run it at 2850rpm or about 65mph.
I'ma thinking 18mpgs are possible,point to point.

Ok you don't have to wire the secondaries shut, just promise not to activate them on the test run.lol Yeah good luck with that, lol

Depends on how much time you want to spend sorting out the t-slot restriction and cruise emulsion. I can see 12-15 if you screw with it enough.

If you want MPG, get out of the hobby and buy a Prius.

6 mpg City and 7 mpg Highway. Although who cares. People ask me what my mpg is and I tell them 'Good enough to get me to the next gas station'.

Whatever you think it might be, subtract another 5 from that and you'll be in the ballpark.

You never mentioned your compression ratio. I ask for it. Mostly because the need for race fuel is rare and adding it to a engine that doesn't need it will hurt mileage because it will actually produce less power and/or use more fuel.

how does the old saying go?

that mopar will pass by anything but a gas station

When I worked in auto parts as a teenager and used to read off part numbers over the phone, I'd read a number like mpf252 "m as in mary, p as in physics..." would get them every time.
