My search for a shorty D100 is over

-
Been puttin down the miles recently. I think since the last trans install I’ve put probably 200 miles on the truck just cruising it around locally. Yesterday I put around 100 freeway (60-80mph) on it. Tuned a little more on the trans controller, took some main jet out of the primary and added a 10.5 power valve. Still a work in progress but I’m pleased with the progression. Today I drove it in to work, so now it’s a daily driver right?
I registered for duct tape drags again this year and I have to have it sorted out by then because I’m going to drive it there, drag race it, and drive it home. There is speculation as to whether or not the nitrous will be hooked up for that trip. We’ll see.

How did the 10.5 power valve work out for you? I just did the same on my Charger, one jet size smaller on the primary and up to a 10.5 power valve, but I haven't had a chance to test it since (long story). I had a bit of a flat spot on tip in in high gear. My car has 2.94 gears, so probably similar to yours in overdrive.

In my opinion the cam, weight of the vehicle, and gearing is really what dictates the PV opening point. I have small cam and it makes a lot of vacuum during cruise, the truck is heavy, and you already know about the gearing, 3:55s and a .69 overdrive. So the 6.5 that was stock was way late. I tried an 8.5 and it liked it, then a 10.5 and it liked it even more. I don’t have a wideband in the truck just yet so it’s seat of the pants at this point but rolling into the throttle anywhere below 30mph just turns tire in to smoke and it didn’t do that with a stock 750dp.

I did the same progression, 6.5 to 8.5 to 10.5. Also a heavy car with a small cam and high gears. Good to hear because it might be another month before I get a chance to test it again.

Question for you, I just went through the lowering of my truck and have experienced bump steer recently. What did you do to cure this when you lowered your truck?

Sorry I just saw this. I’ve been on a boat for 3 days. How did you lower your truck? I just did the van lower control arms, stock springs, and I cut the bump stops. After that all I did was align it using my magnetic alignment gauge. I haven’t yet experienced much bump steer, but also haven’t driven the truck “hard” so to speak. It still has too much negative camber, that I think I can cure with offset bushings, and right now it’s got 4-1/2 degrees of caster. Drives beautifully.

Please share when you do. I’m going to be using van lowers on my D100 and have everything but bushings.

Diggin those Artillerys @MonkeyMadness I’ve been wondering if Rallye wheel center caps will work with them as they somewhat look like large diameter Rallyes to me, if you squint.

I did the same for the front end. Just van lower arms and bump stop delete. In the rear I did the shackle kits. Worked out well it's low and level. Just experienced bump steer and it caught me off guard.

They are 2017 Ram spare wheel 20x8 5x5.5" powder coated white and 80's/90's ram center caps.

Remember those asshole friends I was talking about back on page 1? I’m disappointed in them. I polled the group regarding nitrous jetting and ALL of them suggested starting low. It’s unbelievable the company I keep. Anyway, jets came in and reluctantly I put the 100 shot in the plate. Probably the smart thing to do. Even though I usually don’t smart very well.

Have you even gone full throttle on the truck yet? Last I remember you hadn't, but now you are adding a nitrous plate.

Seriously what does logic and intelligent thought have to do with any of this? You give me way too much credit. But to honestly answer your question, yes I have since flat footed it a bit. I’m working on the downshift threshold in the trans controller and the throttle percent gain so I have had to drive it a little harder. Scared the **** out of my better half on the way home from getting a burrito the other night. The nitrous plate is in lieu of a big spinny muffler so it’s been in the plan since oh maybe day 4.

And to clarify, below is a pic dated February 15 that I took shortly after my girl painted the engine. The nitrous plate was on it then.

A 100 shot is for old ladies going out to play bingo. Just saying.

Quick mini update on the D100. I’m driving the crap out of it and loving it. Today I had to put another starter in it, because the one that was in it only worked half the time. Stupid rebuilds, at least they’re lifetime warranty. I also got a new starter relay for an automatic so I can hook up the neutral saftey switch, you know for saftey (tech inspection) reasons. I have yet to put that on but will soon and I’ll hook up the reverse lights at the same time since the switch on the 46re has both in it. I cut the pristine, mint dash bezel (shut up it’s my truck) and put a wide band afr gauge where the clock would be, I had to paint the trim ring silver to kinda hide it and I’m happy with it. I welded a bung in to the exhaust and put the o2 sensor in, I just have to finish wiring it. I’ll do that when I wire the electric Speedometer drive I’m using. Cable is in transit for that. I finally put the Autometer mini tach on the steering column and wired it up. Trying to knock out a bunch of little things before duct tape drags.

Af meter looks good
Tach......needs a black face....
Is this a radio delete.....
Funny was looking at a 76 today long bed thinking for a flip ...someone rolled the paint on it ....needs a door, floors were solid
Rad support was rusted fender dents
6 3 on the tree....no options....need to think about it
