Why does a forged 318 crank has a cast crank casting number 2658278.

360 cranks are external balance all other small blocks are internal.

Cast and forged interchange.

That doesn’t look like a factory stamping. May have gotten stamped at the machine shop. They likely don’t know how to tell the difference. I once ordered a cast 440 crank and they sent me a steel crank. Kim
