72 dart 440, Got small bolt ralleys on it with 235/60/14 tires on the rear and they are too small..need more tire under there. From reading around on this site, it looks like i could get a 255/60/14 under there but i cant find that size in a 14 "..I thought about ordering a small bolt 15" ralley from wheel vintiques or something but not sure on the backspacing and all.. any ideas?

Yeah if you do the 1/2" spring relocation deal, you get a 275 60 15 under it. Possibly more.

You are definitely limited on wheels. The tried and true combo for the dart body with a stock rear end/leaf location is 15x7 with 4.25” BS coupled with a 255/60r15.
This will indeed work with the swinger style body? If so i may just order that size wheel

Removing the old spring perches and relocating new ones 1/2 inboard, installing the 1/2" offset front spring hangers and the 1/2" offset rear shackles. Easy peasy.
so the only cutting and welding needed is for the perches on the axle?

If DoctorDiff is out of stock, @BergmanAutoCraft has a 1/2” offset kit that also uses rear leaf spring sliders.

And yes, with the stock leaf spring location you should be able to fit a 255/60/15 in there with the proper backspace. I believe @toolmanmike has that size on his Dart and may still be SBP

Thanks! That kit looks nice, but whats the deal with the sliders..what does that do? Do all the relocation peices bolt in besides the perches on the axle or does the relocating hangers have to be welded also?

Everything bolts in except for the spring perches on the axle.

The sliders free up the movement of the leaf springs. The shackles force the springs into a circular movement, while the sliders keep them more in line with the action the spring wants to take. They also eliminate some side to side flex that you get with the bushings and lever arms that are created with the shackles themselves. It's a minor thing, but it reduces binding and allows the springs work more freely, which improves the suspension reaction to inputs.

The offset kit will make the 255's easy (on some cars 255's might still need a little quarter lip trimming/rolling), and it makes 275's possible, although 275's are a pretty tight fit even with an offset kit. Totally doable, but again with the body tolerances on these cars it's easier on some cars than on others.

Thanks for this info! Only thing i worry about is i cant roll the fender lip because it has some filler in it..are you pretty sure the 255/60 would work with the fender lip normal?

Do you know the best place to buy the 15" wheels? would like to find the matching ralleys in small bolt pattern but 15" and the correct backspacing

If you absolutely can’t do any trimming or rolling you should probably stick with a 245/60/15.

255’s do fit some cars with no alterations, but, factory body tolerances aren’t good enough to say they’ll work specifically on your car. Some do need trimming/rolling for a 255. Some don’t, but you can’t really know which group your car is until you mount them up.

Summit sells them

Wheel Vintiques 61-5754044A Wheel Vintiques 61 Series Chrysler Rallye Silver Wheels | Summit Racing

I wouldn’t buy anything from Classic, ever.

I may could trim the lip but not roll it. because im afraid while im trying to rollit, it would crack the filler

Com'on man, it's a 440.
Do you really think that on the street, 255s are gunna make a difference? or even 275s?
I think I see new bigger tubs in your future;
or a 2-barrel carb.............. lol.

275’s work great if you toss the hockey puck BFG T/A’s in the trash. The only thing they have in common with real tires is that they’re round.

I know, but the looks of the tiny tires drive me nuts! I would love to do what you are saying but i dont know of anyone around here that would do it..I aint no welder and wouldnt want to butcher it up. I could probably get the perches welded on the axles but as far as mini tubbing, i dont know anyone.
