Hello all! My name is Jim, and this is my first post.....obviously.
Why am I here? A very close and dear friend of mine, Bazza, originally from New Zealand but now living here in The States, owns a 1971 Chrysler VG Valiant 770 Regal Hardtop Mexicana that has been in his family since new. Essentially the car is an Australian version of a Dodge Dart, and it may be the only one of its kind here in The States.
Bazza absolutely loves this car, but it was giving him issues a few years back, so he started taking the engine out. (Don't ask me why.) However, he came down with a serious medical condition around the same time as the disassembly was starting, so the car has been sitting, and taking up space in his garage, for over 2 years. However, just recently I FINALLY convinced him to let me work on the car and get it running for him again, so while I can't do anything for him medically, as an "Old Car Guy", the least I can do is get his baby back on the road for him.
As for me, I was raised in a Blue Oval household (please don't hate me for it!), I currently have several late 60's Fords parked in my garage, and Back in the Day I could probably rebuild a 289/302/351 with my eyes shut. (Nowadays though, I need to grab my prescription cheaters just to type on this dang computer! Sucks getting old, but as the saying goes, it beats the alternative.) Anyway, I have 40+ years of experience, tools, and skills behind me...but none of it with Dodge/Chrysler products.
And so I signed-up in the hopes y'all could help me get Bazza's ride back on the street, before he gets out of the hospital and back on his feet.
And if all goes well, on the 2024 Power Tour. But first things first....
Thanks in advance, everyone.
Jim
