Not pumping??

-
They did run an electric pump on it when it was a drag car, that was 3 owners and 20 years ago. The guy I got it from never touched it and the guy he got it from didn't do a whole lot with it either.

How bout the edelbrocks? I read where a couple ppl said they have better chains than the cloyes and don't stretch as easy? They're also $60 tho too...

Most double roller chains are pre stretched and I don't think it will matter to much which one you use...I have never seen a DR chain jump...I used Mopar performance which I believe is made by Comp Cams now... Just don't use a silent chain they stretch terrible and can jump time....Bill

Oh ok cool. I think the comps are the cheapest between those three so I'll do that. Anything else I should do while I'm in there?

Well, my cloyes double roller timing chain set came today!! hopefully my water pump will be here tmrw!! Gotta get this thing torn down n fixed!!

Good deal on that....and BTW use the Blue locktite; it's do fine. Make sure the threads on the bolt and in the hole are completely clean.

You might want to up grade the way your timing chain is being oiled while you have it apart.

Where does the snowball stop?? Lol!!! How hard is that to do? My plans are to rebuild this engine in a few years, but course plans can change....

When you do put it back together, make sure the arm of the pump goes UNDER the eccentric.

I have seen them stuck in and the people wondered why it wouldn't pump. Because the arm was on top. :banghead:

Oh, and blue.

As long as you have the hollow bolt for the cam retainer (upper left) the dripper and an oil slinger you should be fine.

If there is a slinger there, on the crank snout, pay attention which way you take it off and put it back the same way. Some folks pull it and then can't remember. lol

That photo is pretty fuzzy, but maybe? you can turn the key around backwards? Did the bolt have the proper washer? This is a big, special, cup shaped washer.

when you change out water pump's, try to find a hi-po one. a standard pump has a smaller dia: shaft. the h/p bigger dia:.standard looks like tube's on outside of pump , h-p is just fin's.

Well dern!! I worked not the car all night (first motor I've been this far into and I'm slow, i know... Lol) and I finally got the timing chain on, put the eccentric on, torque'd the bolt aaaaannnndddddd...... The dang eccentric turns freely!!! (There. It's out. I feel better now...) I put a new key in and everything... I put a washer between the eccentric and the cupped washer and torque'd the bolt again and a little clockwise/counter clockwise wiggle but at least it didn't slip off the end of the key!! Should i run it with a washer in there??try a new eccentric? (Has a little wear in the keyhole) try a new cupped washer? (Has a little wear on the back) Any suggestions? I'll post pics below..
