It doesn't look like it should make a difference, BUT that's how I get into trouble. They are tunneled into the bores anyway or is there a venturi effect that might be necessary?

A center divider spread bores, unfortunately I'll have to use the Mr Gasket adapter to make it all work.

IMO, especially with that setup = It truly
will not make a discernable difference.

I assume you are talking about the gasket
from adaptor to manifold (Although we run an
4 holes on the race cars if we would ever run one
at all) The adapter to carb will entail an open gasket
for our applications even on a street car.

The 4 hole gasket covers the base plate screws . If one where to loosen and back out it wouldn’t end up going thru the engine . Ask me how I know ….
Otherwise either will perform the same.

OK, big dummy alert, I should have looked into it a little closer. Those passages look to just go to the PCV, ported and brake vacuum ports. Nothing complicated just pulling vacuum. Thanks all!

This type of 4 hole gasket works well with the '68 340 square bore intake and square bore carb.

4 separate holes to seal off.

When using the thin gasket, ALWAYS, ALWAYS convert a 4 hole into an open gasket. Reason is that a backfire could blow out the unsupported section...which will into the engine. There are NO base screws in that carb. It has slots in the carb base that connect both plenums for idle vacuum, so there is absolutely no benefit in using a 4 hole gasket.

Smaller holes tunneled into the bores that are fully baffled most times are nearly chocked by the 4 hole. I would choose the open Gasket to maybe prevent a possible sucking/whistling sound if nothing more.

In my opinion you should not use an open spacer on a dual plain intake. I put a 1/2 in heat resistant gasket on the duster. They only one they had at the store was open, and it caused a hesitation accelerating at part throttle. Assuming it caused a cross draw under the carb. I put the four hole spacer back on and worked fine again
