Hi everyone

Can someone tell me what the original tire size on a 68 Valiant crosses to in today's tire language? This is a Slant 6 Valiant 100, originally had 650x13. Also, what tire in 14" would be the same overall size?

Thanks everyone.

It is on the data/fender tag, bottom row 3rd grouping from the right

Go with a 205/70-14 or 215/70-14 tire, on 14" wheels.

Thanks guys. Someone put rally wheels on this car but I'm going back to 13" once I can get a set of wheels painted.

Those 13" wheels are in high demand now they are quickly becoming the Mopar version of 20s..

I've got a couple of parts cars so I have the wheels, but sitting here thinking about it, the last guy put Scarebird discs on the front and I'm wondering if the 13" wheel will fit over the caliper.

By the way thanks for the mymopar link. I hadn't heard of it before and I looked around, cool website.

Unless its a 100 point restoration car, why anyone would stick to 13" wheels is beyond me. To each their own I guess.

Hi everyone.

I should have come back sooner. I did take an original 13" rim from my car and tried to put it on over the Scarebird discs. Not even close. So the car remains with 14" wheels.

Johnny you asked why I wanted to keep my 13s. Well, I've driven both 13" and 14" wheel Valiants and honestly I can't tell much difference. And I'm not going to win(or enter for that matter) many races in a 6 cylinder Valiant. So stock is fine for me. I also have Corvairs and would like to keep getting stock tires for them. If the tire companies see that people still want 13 and 14 inch tires they will keep making them. I don't understand the argument of, get bigger tires now because you won't find smaller tires later. If what you want is available now, get it! It shouldn't be lost on anyone that the reason companies aren't making 13 and 14 inch tires is because people stopped buying them. Okay rant over. It's not my crusade.

So anyway, thanks again for the replies.

My post didn't have anything to do about performance, even though 14's would perform better, it is about looks. 13's are tiny and look like crap imo. Plus performance 14" tires are getting harder to find, I couldn't even imagine trying to find 13"s. But at the end of the day, if 13"s make you happy, that's all that matters. Your parts, your money.

I have a whole set of five 185 70 13 tires and wheels I just took off my 64. Tires are still in very good shape.

Most of the thirteen inch tires I have found are trailer tires.
175 80 13 would be the equivalent, and about 90% of the tires that size are trailer.
185 70 13 are a little bit wider, a little shorter.
175 70 14 would be an almost dead nuts replacement for the 175 80 13.
