Painting a Bumblebee Stripe

1) If I mix a small amount of white paint with dark red, will I get a bright red? If not what color should I mix with the red?

2) Should I remove the masking tape immediately after painting the stripe to make a smoother border line?

I think adding white would make it lighter not brighter.Adding a bit of yellow maybe?I would remove the tape a few minutes after the final coat.

They make tape with a special edge on it so there will be less of a ridge after removel. Can't help with the paint mix, but adding white to red will make it pink.
