Has anyone had any luck painting a carb with catalized clear. I used a 3m polish product for aluminum and a dremmel. wow the linkage even looks like chrome. should I clean it down real good, use an adhesion promoter and clear. or if I just leave it alone will it stay nice for very long? Or just paint the steel linkage and leave the aluminum alone ? any ideas ?

The factory used some type of coating or anodizing. Bare aluminum would start pitting and getting white spots in a few years in Ohio. You might check with anodizing shops.

I still have a Holley 4-barrel 800 cfm spreadbore I use on my 340. Is is one of those Holleys having the bowl closure on top like the Carters. It is polished aluminum and definitly has some sort of clear coat on it which I can say is durable. It still looks good. What you want to do is viable. Maybe you could research what Holley did on those carberators.

Ive done a few with spray paint. They are fine if you dont have any leaks. The clear will yellow from heat and fuel

Shoot Cudachick a PM and ask her about powdercoating. On a carb, it would be a little tricky but she's your (Wo)man.
