Palin - McCain

-
I think her speech last night has got to have alot of Democrats worried now.

I can totally relate to her and her "pit bull" attitude towards the Washington regulars.

Yes it's been photoshopped. It's just liberals trying to discredit her. I think its sad that the liberals are giving her husband a bad time for getting a DUI 22 years ago when at the same time Obama was snorting coke.

I like the part when her young daughter licked her hand and wetted down the babies hair.

Love Palin but I'm one of the few people who thinks Bush has done a good job and would vote for him again.

I'm on her side and am quite happy to see a fresh face with a new perspective injected into the stuffy DC clan regime. :toothy10:

Hmmm .... noticed since my post (#1) no Obama supporter has chimed in and my question's still not answered. Why will you be voting for him and based on what accomplishments ? Could you please answer this question without bashing the current administration (which we already know has their issues) or the Republican party (or using the word "change", which makes me wanna upchuck I'm hearing it so much )

This doesn't really seem like a dem-supporting friendly envrionment. Most of the "debates" on these forums are more like people shouting whatever they heard on Rush Limbaugh at anyone that dares to speak up.

But I'll give it a go...

Obama's credentials that impress me:

He graduated at the top of his class in Harvard Law. So, he was the #1 guy in the #1 program in the country. I'm sure I'll hear about how that makes him a lawyer and blah blah blah, but since this is supposed to be about merit, being the top of the top is impressive to me. He was elected as the president of the Harvard Law Review by his fellow students.

I read his book. More than anything, it shows the methodology he uses to solve problems. It's impressive. He gets how I think things are supposed to work. Every time he would outline an issue, I'd think "Here we go with the standard Dem claptrap.." and then he would outline how he looks at it differently, or provide information to make me look at it differently. He was actually able to change my mind about a couple of issues.

He quickly created an organization that defeated the Clintons in a protracted battle on their own turf. That's impressive to me.

He taught constitutional law at the university of Chicago, which is one of the best programs in the country.

I think that the amount of time Obama has spent in Washington is an advantage. If its such a cesspool, why is it an advantage to have spent your whole life soaking in it?

Between his meteoric rise and the fact that most of his money comes from individuals rather than organizations, he can do things that others can't. He isn't owned. He doesn't owe anybody.

Because he is african-american, he can and does say that African-Americans are going to have to solve their problems themselves.

To donate money to Obama you have to certify that you are not giving money from a PAC, and that you are not a federal lobbyist or foreign agent. McCain does not have these requirements.

This is the short list, sans bashing the republicans and the current president.

Hey LXguy, and his brethren;

You are very perceptive as to the political leanings here. This place is overgrown with bitter, gun toting religionists. It's full of people that hold in contempt those that think our hobby and passions are wasteful at best.

I would rather be governed by the first 100 names of any phone book then by Obama and 99 of his fellow Harvard travelers.

You say he has changed your mind on a couple of things. Get used to it, because he can't seem to make up his own.

He beat the Clinton's. So what.

Obama, and the left wing of the Democratic Party--the wing that has anointed and sustained him thus far--don't much care for people like us. They are socialists, no matter their color, gender, sexual orientation, country of origin, transthisorthatness......whatever.

We here, by and large, are not.

Discover the difference. Give Liberty a Chance.

Discover the difference. Give Liberty a Chance.

Umm, they've been in complete charge 6 of the past 8 years. I think they've had their chance.

Do you have any substantive criticisms, or do you just want to repeat Hannity's mantra?

Here's the text of the much maligned "Bitter" quote.

"So, it depends on where you are, but I think it's fair to say that the places where we are going to have to do the most work are the places where people are most cynical about government.....

Here's how it is: in a lot of these communities in big industrial states like Ohio and Pennsylvania, people have been beaten down so long. They feel so betrayed by government that when they hear a pitch that is premised on not being cynical about government, then a part of them just doesn't buy it.....

But the truth is, is that, our challenge is to get people persuaded that we can make progress when there's not evidence of that in their daily lives. You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."

Granted, the wording could have been better, but the meaning is different than has been portrayed by the conservative media.

"And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations." Or antique cars, or hunting or fishing, or bowling .... aren't they silly little people. Arrogant SOB has no clue.....bad as Kerry and his phony " yeah, is this where I get me a huntin' license ?" or Hillary's comment regarding people in Georgia. They try so hard but are soooo out of touch, they believe they know what us poor small town hicks need, all the while observing from afar, and passing judgement. I don't know this crowd, they're not my "people", and they do not speak for me.

A liberal always meant something else. You know like, "I did NOT have a sexual realtionship with that woman-Ms. Lewinski". Only to be followed by, "I did in fact have an improper relationship....".

See the first time he meant to say the latter statement but it came out wrong. he corrected it the second time. However, he NEVER lied. He "misled".

Speaking of the "conservative media", where does Obama stand on the fairness doctrine since he is such a constitutional academic?

How do you feel about liberals wanting to limit the right to free speech because NO ONE wants to pay to listen to their drivel a.k.a Air America?

Like I said earlier, they sit around Starbucks complimenting each other on their intellectual prowess while looking down on the rest of us. Typical liberal.

BTW, we dont have to "repeat" what Hannity, Limbaugh, etc. say because they are only echoing OUR thoughts and sentiments! The reason they are so popular is because they are saying what we want to say! Only they have the forum to broadcast it.

I don't want to sound elitist, but you guys sound pretty bitter to me...

I'd say its more likely that you're echoing their thoughts and sentiments.

As for the long-dead Fairness Doctrine...

If these issues are important enough to be reported as news, and it is being broadcast using public infrastructure/airwaves, I believe it should be required to air both sides of an issue. An informed electorate is a healthy electorate and all that.

Do you think Rush and Hannity are so upset about it because their listeners can't be counted upon to agree with the "right" decision if they heard the other side of the story? Who's the condescending know-it-all?

As far as Air America goes, conservative biased media does not justify liberal biased media and vice versa.

So Bill Clinton was held at gunpoint and had oral sex performed on him under threat of force??

Are you serious? What about your nightly news? Where is the "fairness" to that? Katie, Dan Rather, and the others are ALL well known libs. So do you think that they should have Limabugh on to give the "other side"?

We have heard and know your side. America is bad, cars are evil, we are ruining the planet, capitalism is wrong, etc. Blah, blah, blah.

In short, we dont want to hear it. Al Franken is an idiot.

Long dead? Hillary said she would bring it back. I havent heard what Obamas plan dijour would be.

Wow. You are exaclty the kind of voter who has kept the democrats in business. Un-informed.

*USA PATRIOT ACT. Unconstitutional and the beginning of the end for our Bill of Rights.
Have you read it? Obviously not.

*Gasoline's price doubled under WHAT party? What's their answer? Continuing tax breaks and land giveaways (drill on MY beautiful COAST? F**K YOU!) to the oil companies that have posted their greatest profits EVER. It's good to have oilmen in the White House...for oil companies, anyway.
And why has it happened? Because the democrats insist on keeping us dependent on questionable allies and outright hostile countries for our oil by refusing to let us produce our own oil. Geeeez. Wake up.

*9/11 happened on WHOSE watch? We have the most sophisticated electronic surveillance apparatus in the world, and we couldn't stop a bunch of mostly SAUDI men with box cutters? Again, WTF? Oh, and where's Osama?
And which President gutted our intelligence community, directly resulting in the intelligence failures that allowed it to happen? Not to mention that he is the same man who ignored no less than three offers to have Bin Laden turned over to us. Hint: it wasn't Bush.

*Iraq had no WMD's and no intention nor capability of attacking us (c'mon, we're the SOLE SUPERPOWER, right?), and yet, we're poised to spend more than $2 TRILLION for invading and occupying it for the next few years. (I won't bother mentioning McCain's ease in saying we could be there for even a 100. Ooops....)
Well, except for the WMD's and weapons facilities we saw on film being broken down and transported to Syria. Except for the testimony of top Iraqi leaders about how these weapons and facilities were moved which was so detailed as to include the types and numbers of aircraft and vehicles used to do it. And except for the mobile chemical weapons labs and chemical artillery shells our troops found. McCain said that winning the war was important enough that we needed to do it even if it took 100 years. He didn't say it was going to happen or could happen. You are a good little sheep and think what you are told to.

We've already spent $500 BILLION dollars there. Where's most of the money for this grand clusterf**k coming from? Our children and grandchildren will be paying it back to the PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA! Yeah, the Commies! They own $503 billion of our debt, with Japan leading the way with $583 billion, btw. After all the fear mongering and red-baiting of the latter part of the 20th Century, the "enemy" now has us by our economic short hairs, courtesy of tax breaks for the rich and corporations and 2 very expensive wars. Enriching war profiteers AND China/Japan at our expense, is THAT American? 4150 of our brave soldiers have DIED in Iraq, and for what? NOT for our American freedoms, that's for sure.
wow, right out of the B.S. liberal playbook. China has had no greater ally in this country than Bill Clinton. he even gave them the ability to target our country with nuclear missles in exchange for illegal campaign contributions. Tax breaks for the rich? I didn't know that anyone still fell for that B.S. Tax breaks for the corporations, large and small, that out entire ecoenmy is built on somehow help China? You are lost. MAking it cheaper to do business HERE keeps business out of China. GEEEZ you need to get a clue.

*Mercenaries on the ground in America doing police work during Katrina, taking guns out of the hands of law-abiding citizens trying to protect what little they had left?
And who was responsible for that? The democrat local government.

"Turncoat Joe" Lieberman
And there is the sum total of democrat thinking. March in lock step and don't dare think for yourself or we will destroy you!

*Unwavering support for Israel? Ummm, I've got nothing against Jews at all, but WHY are we supporting them (with OUR tax dollars, again!) with BILLIONS of dollars in military aid and turn a blind eye to the Palistinian's plight?
Now, here we have some agreement.

*He still wants to leave insurance companies involved in our health care, sponging profits from our already short health care dollars.
And here.

*He's a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. So is McCain...birds of a feather...check this short clip on who they are. It will surprise you... Council on Foreign Relations.
And here.

Really, I'm a Kucinich/Paul ticket kinda guy. Both of them understand and FIGHT FOR the Bill of Rights and the Constitution better than any of the party apparatchiks ("agents of the apparatus") that we have been presented with so far. They may have some differing policies, but their fundamentals are right on...[/QUOTE]
