I'm just wondering if any of the pet insurance out there is any good or is most of it comparable to health insurance where the copay is a high amount? Any suggestions and comments would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Yes.
It has saved us THOUSANDS of dollars.
We always have at least two dogs, sometimes as many as four.

Can't have pre-existing... I looked at a couple before. Metlife and Careplus.... seemed good until it got into details. Just like human version

I have a claim in with Figo pet insurance. I think it's about $1.00 a day. My one year old shih tzu vomited at least 10 times in 30 minutes early Saturday morning a week ago. Took her to emergency hospital about 1:00am. $360.00. No more vomiting. About 5am, the diarrhea started. That continued for for hours. Back to emergency for more tests. $660.00. Had to get both claims plus all regular vet records sent in.
Waiting to hear from them.

Senior pets are a problem but most of the time their owners just can’t let them go and do anything to keep them alive. I’ve seen a family member spend a fortune on a dog for six months that she knew was going to die when the human thing to do would be to put it down. The dog had multiple issues the last couple of years when she was spending $500 a month to keep it alive. I’ve put pets down and I’ve let them live out there time it’s never easy but it’s part of having them.
Sometimes I think it would be nice when I get enough health problems that a call could be made and the vet could come over and give a shot then we could fire up the tractor and dig a hole throw me in and cover my *** up with some good old Iowa dirt.
The inevitable gets prolonged to long for the wrong reasons sometimes.

Kern Dog which company did you go with?
The name is TruPanion. Often times, the Vet is able to call and authorize payment while we are in the office so we only pay the difference.
Some companies are reimbursement only...you're stuck paying and then hoping they will step up and cover the bill after the fact.

Any insurance is better than no insurance. Many years ago uncle Charlies' dachshund Butch was backed over by next door neighbors car. I don't know what the man paid to gave Pina put in both of Butchs' hips but I remember aunt Ann being furious about it. Some time throwing coins at a insurance policy beforehand would have lessened the cost and probably lessened the drama as well.
By the way, Butch walked until he left this life naturally.
Wife bought miss Gracies insurance at Petsmart back when the dog was about 6 months old. I don't know anything about its cost or coverages.

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone. I can definitely look into but, looking a little further some things going on with my cat now may not be covered because of age (14 1/2 to 15 years) and it would be extremely costly with a lot of limitations. I'm hoping to get a little more time with her if possible because when she is gone I'll have a big hole in my life. Thank you again.

A true pet lovers heart will no doubt refill that prescription. Got to have it. Miss Gracie (our current pet) was a rescue from a puppy mill. Best girlfriend I ever had. Loves the way I pet those liddle tidels. Cheers

I've had several cats over the years. I've found that all have their own personality. I loved them all and miss them all. This one is special to me though, as she showed up as a stray and chose me as her person unexpectedly. She is a Calico so, that is unique to me as well. I took her to the vet today and hopefully, she gets to feeling better with the medicine/treatment she is on.
