Pick me a cam

-
All I ever ran across was 400 horse 350 vette engines...... Every one of them. Stock 350 4bbl in a Camaro, just add headers = 400 horse, came from the factory with a vette motor. :D
I could beat them with a 318 2bbl and 2.76 gears, but they all had 400 horse vette engines... LOL

I'm thinkin' a 86.5 lsa will get him there

with more overlap...... leave that intake valve open longer to get the scavenging effect amplified :)
I told him I could show him a 500 hp 318 with A/C, cruise, power windows, no headers, and it will cruise the interstates all day long.

Round here every Chevy makes 500hp. Not 499 not 501. 500hp.

I like to tell them the RWHP when they ask me what mine makes. Puts the hook in their mouth really quick.

You have to use chevy owners math, +20hp for intake, +20 for carb, +20hp for headers, + 20hp for roller rockers, +100 for camel humps,+ 100 for cam, etc, till you get the #. I mean just askem', they're all runnin' around with 600hp 327's
You forgot the gear drive. Gotta have that sound that says I'm a Chevy guy.

wait - we're getting totally off track here - all he wanted was a cam.. here ya go

Damn great ideas.

318 show us the 500 HP 318 you speak of.

Here is what I'm thinking now...why not build it like a Silver Detroit? I mean, why not a blower, fed by twin turbos? And a plate of nawzz for another 125?

Pick me a cam for that. I'm thinking about 205 degrees on the seat and an LSA that gives me zero overlap.

How does that grab you all?

Good one.

BUT???? my original idea was around a 60 degree LSA...if I can get the core. I can have Cam Motion grind one from a blank.

I figured I could keep the valves open so long I could run 18:1 on pump gas.

...you guys worry too much about cams.
Purple oil, purple air cleaner, purple brake fluid and an H pipe and your good to go!

This one cracked me up, but all of the replies were funny as ell. :D
The (Build your own cam) kit was hilarious too.
Can you even imagine the can of worms and arguments over the profile on something like that?

I heard a 720 degree overlap lets the engine breathe.

Maybe we should discuss that build yer own deal!!

I have this idea I'm working on...................

318 show us the 500 HP 318 you speak of.

?
Ok, you asked, I will not disappoint! I will show you the 500 hp 318 that operates all power accessories and cruises highways without headers.
Here it is....

You didn't say it had to be a Mopar, just a 318
Or maybe you meant 500 dollar 318 no headers highway geared instead of 500 horsepower 318 no headers highway geared.... LOL

i want to build a 500 HP totally streetable engine. It will be a 318. J heads. Pump gas friendly. Must run power windows, power brakes, power steering. Also, I don't want a stall converter. Must have no more than a 3.23 gear. The car is 3800 pounds. No headers.

Show me the way.
It's called VVT. Making it work is your mission, if you choose to accept it. This message will self destruct in 10, 9, 8, BOOM!

Ok here is my idea, no data to back it up throw.

a blower(6-71) pushing a measly 2 pounds of boost at idle, AND turbo feeding the blower(could use standard exh manifold for the turbo) stock j head with some flow mods. and a cam to match.
There are guys that have done it! Way more technical that i have posted, but doable.
EDIT: here is a diagram i found.
