Pick me a cam

-
Ok here is my idea, no data to back it up throw.

a blower(6-71) pushing a measly 2 pounds of boost at idle, AND turbo feeding the blower(could use standard exh manifold for the turbo) stock j head with some flow mods. and a cam to match.
There are guys that have done it! Way more technical that i have posted, but doable.
that reminded me of this crazy thing I saw at a "cars and coffee" - never did find the driver and have never seen it again...

Owwww what a minute! you said pick you a 500 HP CAM......Not ENG. My bad:BangHead::D

Damn great ideas.

318 show us the 500 HP 318 you speak of.

Here is what I'm thinking now...why not build it like a Silver Detroit? I mean, why not a blower, fed by twin turbos? And a plate of nawzz for another 125?

Pick me a cam for that. I'm thinking about 205 degrees on the seat and an LSA that gives me zero overlap.

How does that grab you all?
Sorry YR i mist this post. You beat me too it!:poke::D

I recommend the new custom grind I've been developing w/Lunati, the VoodyDoody series, 'cause if You're gonna talk **** You need the stick to back it up!

That's what I'm talking about right here!!!!!!!!

i want to build a 500 HP totally streetable engine. It will be a 318. J heads. Pump gas friendly. Must run power windows, power brakes, power steering. Also, I don't want a stall converter. Must have no more than a 3.23 gear. The car is 3800 pounds. No headers.

Show me the way.

Hell after reading on here I thought all 318 made 500 hp stock! It's 340's and 360's that struggle to make any steam.

Hey YR. You seem to have a lot of good info on cams and can grinders. Who would you reccomend I contact to have a can ground? I've contacted Bullet twice, have them all my info and haven't heard boo from them in 2 weeks. Guess they don't want my money. Just looking for a good cam for off roaring and mud dragging in my W250 4we. Its a rebuilt la 360. Performer RPM Air Gap going on when I install cam. Has Indys remain 360 heads with 2.02 intakes, "509 springs, etc. Headers, ignition upgrades. Currently has a Summit can that is junk.Itll turn 5500 but it's dead. Low end is pretty weak too. Just want a decent performing cam that will pull enough vacuum for power brakes and pull hard to 5 grand. Running a Quick Fuel 600 carb. Any help you could give me on a cam or cam grinder would really be appreciated. Thanks for your time

Thanks for the info. Il give them a call. I'm not looking for a super hi tech class racing cam, just a strong performer. Il probably call racer Brown first. Pretty disappointed that Bullet blew me off twice

Any one of those will take care of you.

I put a comp rockers sticker and an Ati damper sticker on my truck and picked up 50 horse. Still waiting for my NOS sticker

Sheeeeiiit, them nawzz stickers are worth 100 HP just sitting in the drive through.
How much valve lift do you think is safe running stock stamped rockers with these Indy 509" springs on a daily driver with occasional blasts to 5500. I'm using comp lifters and pussy road right now. Back in the day I used to spin motors to 6000 with stock valve trains. But I'm pretty convinced 90% of the parts available are crap now without going to custom parts

Hope you don't mind me messaging you but I don't want all the know it alls chiming in 28th their nonsene ideas

No offense to anyone but it seems evryone has their own opinion on cams lately and theires is THE ONLY cam that works. I'm just looking for a company that will grind me a cam or reccomend one that works good with my combo. Fdeeling I got from bullet was they only want to deal with Hi dollar class racers and not the common person even though my money's just as green as every one elses

Considered a Comp Xe 268 cam but I ran one in a 355chevy, roller rockers, geardrive, good heads etc. That was a disappointment to say the least. About like the Summit cam I'm running now. Mediocre mid range, dead by 4500 and low end torque is disappointment. Pulls 17"vacuum at idle and actually runs better with torker 340 then the stock 340 intake.

My money green too, just dont stack high. LoL

Same here. I work hard for what I have. Don't mind spending it as long as I get what I pay for

Then Jim at Racer Brown will probably be your best bet. When you call, you don't talk to an office puke. You talk to Jim. And HE grinds the cam. Just call him AFTER 5 PM Eastern time. Takes notes. You can learn from him.

Also, Cam Motion has great customer service. But like I said, it's damn hard to beat Jim at RB.
