Several people asked to see pictures of drptp69cuda's burned barracuda convertible (others didn't want to see it). Here it is.

I have nothing else to say but Wow. I feel horrible for whoever had to come back to see this...

Wow..I know where a 69 drop top is sitting.Looks like someone painted it and just let it sit.You may be able to get it for a good price.I was going to ask about it but I am broke right now.The car is in Illinois.

When we had the Cedar Creek fire in '03; A neihbor had a 383 formula s and a '69 bb Mach 1 burn in his garage (The rest of the home burned as well)
Didn't get **** from the ins.....

Man that's terrible.

Were they at least able to salvage the driveline?

Early next week, we are going to drag it onto a trailer and see what is left of the driveline and front end. The rear was an 8 3/4 suregrip, with sway bar, no tranny in yet (that was next on the list to put in), drive shaft was in the trunk and is warped, and the engine was a correct date code 340 that was temporarily put in place. It was about a $5 grand rebuild, high end on everything, fingers crossed on that. The completely reupholstered legendary interior, carpet, detailed dash, and all the trim (grills, bumpers, taillights, lenses, armrests, new top, ... everything) was in the interior. The top mechanism was in an enclosed trailer parked next to the car with all of our vendor parts loaded for the Mopar Nationals. The mechanism was scorched, but most of our parts were destroyed as the contents of the right half of the trailer was burned up too.

Fire cause was determined, after extensive investigation, to be "stuff" happens.

House was a total loss, house owner had insurance and Keith who was renting had renters ins. that won't completely cover his household loss. Car and trailer, and his deisel Dodge Service truck (back end box area scorched, tools, ladder, plumbing supplies, etc) will be uncompensated.

It's just sad :( and maddening #-o at the same time.

Stories like this are hard to accept, but this stuff DOES happen. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Keith and all parties involved. I'd be devastated.....

I know a guy who lost a real 68 Shelby 428 4-speed Mustang in a garage fire, total loss, no insurance......:angry7: The car was in great driver condition, blue with gold stripes, all original. Cars need to be insured, those pics are hard to look, sorry for the loss.

I feel sick just looking at the pictures, I feel for you buddy. A couple years ago, my freind had his 59 corvette (he bought it new) in his two car garage along with his daughters boyfriends 70 Chevelle. The guy was changing the fuel pump on the Chevelle, knocked the drop light to floor causing a spark which started a fire. The corvette was burnt so badly it was almost unrecognizable. It was so bad it couldn't be saved.

That is how the guy I know lost his Shelby, changing a gas tank is some crappy old truck, tank tipped over and gas splashed onto his trouble light (glass bulb)
