Pictures Of 225 60 14 OR 235 60 14 Tires On 5.5" Wheels

I see 14x6 sbp chrome reverse wheels pop-up on fb and ebay all the time, all rusty and cheap.
Could probably post a wanted ad here too.

An extra .5" might not be much, or might be enough.
 
Fwiw I have these on my 62 Valiant on Rallye wheels:

Front: 205/70/14
Rear: 225/70/14
Rears do not fit front.

I also had Cragar 14x6 3.75 bs, 215/70/14 on the front.

Damn. Google lied to me again. I requested 225 60 14, and Coopers came up. I didn't click on it till you said you couldn't find em. Oops. They came up as 225 70 15. ****.
Sorry about that, MY bad.
Cooper does make a 225 70 14...... but that don't help on the front, does it?

I'm probably gonna go with the 235s and call it a day. I think they look fine. For what I do, I'll never know it.
 
235's are way to big, heavy, and bulky for a slant car.
Been there, done that. You will hate them on the front (Popeye Arms) and on the back (loss of power). I couldn't get them off my car fast enough. Reducing the weight of the wheel and tire improves the ability of the vehicle to accelerate, brake, and steer. If you want heavy steering, slower acceleration, slower braking, by all means go for it. But imho, the 205 or 215 70/14 is still the all around winner for a /6 A body.

And I've not ruled out anything yet. But keep in mind, this car will end up having a Ford T5 five speed transmission with a 3.35:1 first gear with a Ford 9" rear and 4.11 gears. If I knew 100% sure about the fitment of the 215 70 in the front, that might be what I go with. Nothing's bought yet.
 
I was gonna post the Gripmax...

Finding a MFG that makes both sizes you want is not super easy.

If you don't want RWL or OWL, it's a little easier.
 
FWIW, I've been very impressed with the hankook kinergy tires I put on my duster after 11k miles, good grip, great ride, though most of the 14's are 70 or 75 aspect ratio....
 
I used to run 245 60 14s on them all day long never had a bit of problem
 
On the front I would do 215/75/14 I like it a little taller to fill the Gap up
 
My 67 wears 215-70-14 today but, the 205s did look better, maybe drove better. I said maybe because the 215s haven't been very far.

I know what you are rockin bro, I still pop in and out here.
Just like anybody else here, what you put on your car is up to you. I'm just trying to help you avoid what I consider a bad move for your car. I've tried 235/60-14s all the way around on my 65 Slant six car, and it was horrible with manual steering. I could also feel loss of power in the acceleration department, and braking.
I ended up using those tires on a v8 car, which they work really well on. For what you are doing, I still feel the 205 or 215-70/14 is the way to go. The 215s on the front sometimes need a little shaving on the bottom portion of the front fender.
So easy a caveman can do it !!! :-)

PS: Another size that works well, and might be more obtainable is a 195 75 14. I have those on my 74.

Yeah. Thanks! I knew I had seen that picture before. Now I remember it was you. I really like the height of the 215, plus there are more choices.

215 75 is a TALL tire!
I can run 235 75 15s (29.5 tall) on the front of my 62 savoy, but only cause a previous owner "relieved" about two or three inches of metal at the front of the fenderwell opening.
I can't think of any stock A-body that could take a 215 75 without work.

I was thinkin the same. 215 70 is tall enough, but 215 75? The air's gettin thin. lol
