Pink Duster up to 30,000

-
Really a rare car in 1970 - nobody then wants the combination of a pink car with a black painted roof - and I understand it, I wouldn't have it bought or ordered then either....

Strange world, now its only expensive, because of an 'misshappened' outside color-combination.

I wouldn't drive a pink car.

If you were a collector with the cash and love for A bodies it would be in your garage, just saying. And FYI, I would never drive a FM3 car, own one yes, drive one no.

I would totally drive an fm3 car!! In fact, my wife wants an fm3 or fc7 car, not sure what model yet, probably a Duster or 70 Challenger

This car is on cars-on-line. He wants 55 or 59k for it. I can't remember exactly what it was, but it was higher than camel pussy.

No, If I were an A-Body collector with enough cash, I would be looking for original Hemi Darts (very difficult, I know) or GSS Demons by Mr.Norm.

And in my opinion is the most desireable year for Dusters 1971, because of the production numbers, the looks and the performance advantage...

It is fun to run across these old threads talking about a car that I now own. Oh, and by the way, I drive it.

Driving a pink car in Texas. You must keep calm….and carry.

Were you the buyer 9 years ago? Or did you buy more recent? I am curious what you paid but understand that is private.

Staying true to the thread, I’m curious what your other cars are. Collector of rare things?

Hats off to owning a rare one and driving it!

I bought the car a couple years ago, for not one, but two purposes.
1. I bought it on my wife's birthday simply to get her more involved in "my hobby." Rather than looking at her watch and asking how much longer when at a show or race, she is now asking me when the next car show is? That's a win in my book.
2. I saw a VO2 two-tone Cuda at the Mopar Nats back in 99 or so, and from that time on, have been somewhat looking for a two-tone Mopar. Alas, this one showed up for sale. Original fender tag, perfect broadcast sheet, 100% original body panels, 4 speed. Whats not to love? I wanted a VO2 car, the color was just a bonus, imo. Was I looking for an FM3 car? No. But I can tell you this, it gets nothing but a lot of thumbs up when on the road. Did I pay more than I wanted? Yes. But considering I have turned down many thousands in profit, I have to ask myself, how would I replace it? As of this day, it is a true one of one. With that said, I would LOVE to see another documented VO2 FM3 Duster. If that ever happens I would hope the two cars could be seen together, maybe Carlisle or such? In the big picture, most everything of value that I own, I "thought" I paid too much.
In this day and age, this car couldn't begin to be restored for what I paid for it.

On the other topic of collecting. So far as cars, I have an original 1924 Model T roadster, a 93 Mustang Cobra (that I bought new), a 70 440 6-bbl. shaker Cuda (with broadcast sheet), and a 71 383 4-speed billboard Cuda convertible (documented with two build sheets). Both all original body panels. Other than cars, I collect currency. Well to be more specific, US fractional currency, large size US currency, Republic and Pre-Republic of Texas, along with rare documents and Texas ephemera. On that note, I am seriously considering letting go of some of it to fund the purchase of my dream car. A 68 Hemi RR. I'm not getting any younger, and "I think" I would enjoy the shake, rattle and rumble of a hemi car more.
