Post your wheel and tire combos.

-
All I gots are some small bolt Center Line rims. I haven't a clue what the backspace is. They were on the car when I bought it.

15x4" front with G78/15 bias ply.
15x10" rear with Mickey Thompson 28x13.5x15 ET/Street.

At one point there were Goodyear front runners on it as well as some McCreary dirt track tires on the back.

The car was mini tubbed and the wheel wells stretched to fit. I haven't taken any new pics in years, so what I have has been posted before.

70 Dart Swinger

275/60/15 MT Et street radials
15x8.5 Centerline Autodrags 4 7/8 (4.875) Backspace
BBP 8.75 cut to 51" flange to flange, total width drum to drum 56.25". If I did it again, I'd have cut the rear to 50.75 then used spacers to locate the wheels. Easier to add some spacer than take away axle length or add backspace. :) It's REALLY close to the outer wheel lip. Gonna have to roll it.

Home made 3/4" spring relocation kit.

Has maybe 3/8-1/2" on each side of tire in factory wheelwell... TIGHT!

Mini-tubbed, but all suspension in stock location, however all converted over to big bolt pattern...

I have a question. After reading through all the posts, it seems like a wider rim can be used on an unaltered fender well / leaf-spring car when a 18" rim is used, instead of a 17". Am I reading the posts incorrectly?

I'm thinking about going w/ Cragar 397 series wheels in 17"X8" with 4 1/2" back spacing. After reading through the posts, I'm even more lost if they'll fit on my 73 Swinger. My car sits pretty low since adding Hotchkis leafs. I'm thinking 225/50-17 in the front and 245/50-17 in the rear. Any thoughts about fitment issues I might have?

Thanks!

The 17 inch diameter ones fit on mine, without any alterations to the wheelwells or rear springs.
They're not huge, just 8 inches wide in the rear and 7 inches in the front.
The 18 inch ones may have fit, but I didn't want to go any larger than 17.
Did you change your brake setup as well?

I think I'm going to switch into budget mode and just fit the biggest rubber I can on my rally wheels.

I think it's really on the front where it makes a difference. 5.7" BS is about the max you can go before the wheel fits the outer tie rod end. Many 18's will clear the OTRE, allowing greater BS and more tire up front. Probably more critical on Darts / Scamps than Barracudas and Valiants. Out back, I don't think DIA makes much if any difference, you can only squeeze so much in between the inner quarter panel and the leaf spring.
