Potential 69 Barracuda Purchase :)

Yes it is a vinyl top!!!. I did not know it was a rarity on this car. The hub caps are original and I really dig them. It has after market A/C and I did notice the corrugated type radiator hose. It has an under the dash stereo and speakers in the doors. Otherwise, it is very original. I'm not too keen on the little rubber side trims though.

I am going to get this car because it needs to be saved and it is so much better than my dart. I have plans of cleaning it up and detailing it and keep it as a survivor for as long as I can. I tend to modify my cars haha.

I'm going to spend the day cleaning out the 68 Dart and taking pictures of everything so I can put it up for sale. Keep you eyes open for the for sale post if interest in a 68 dart to restore or use for racing. Priced to sell too.

One question. Is the weather so nice out there in California that they don't even put shop doors on the buildings????

They seem to go for a little more around here. Like adding around a couple grand to the top of that range. The /6-273-318 Barracuda pull more money than same condition /6-273-318 Darts. I have a friend that was looking for a nice 68 Barracuda or Dart and couldn't find one like this around here.

Didn't you have a 68 Dart with crate motor and automatic in it for sale?

That was a different guy but I did look at that one a while back. I hope I can walk away with this car for 3500-5000 or less if I'm lucky.
 
I had bought my 68 Dart for $4,800 real nice chrome original not pitting, Paint original starting to rub off top surfaces rebuilt 273 otherwise orignal. Interior original needing to be redone. That was Three years ago, and yes I sold it for $11,000 after putting about $8,000 in to it. 360 crate 727, 8 3/4 new interior back to stock. Probably regret selling, bottom line still lost money even buying the car right, the guy I bought it from wanted $6,800 had to wait him out about four months. I think 68 year barracuda & Darts are worth maybe $500 to $1,000 more than 67,69 years but thats just my opinion.

WOW that low...I'm out of touch with pricing...I guess I'm use to Island prices...I'd buy it for sure at those prices... Wouldn't even blink...

Good luck...can't wait to see it after you clean it up...

I agree with the 68's going for or getting more buying interest than the 67 or 69. But 68 and 69's are pretty close. I think the 69 Barracudas would be the same if the grille and tail panels were so expensive and hard to find.

Jim, we saw your Dart at the Pomona Swap Meet maybe a year ago or early this year? My buddy wanted to build a Super Stock clone. All the good HiPo parts from yours would have to be sold off. Didn't pencil out right for his particular situation. The stock car you started with at $4800, he would have bought though. IRRC, that was a super straight 100% rust free virgin not messed with body.

$11K doesn't sound too bad actually. But I'm sure idiots have bought shiney red with black interior and stripes Darts in worse true shape for more money.

Things are getting tougher as time goes on though. I know someone else more recently with a 68 Barracuda fastback 330 hp crate Magnum 360 and new passon 4spd, 3.55 sure grip, disks, shiny paint ok interior was having a tough time at $9-10K But did sell. But it had rust repair issues with lower exterior body. Not bad, just not like the body on your Dart.
 

That's one heck of a score if you walk away with that car for $5-k or under.

I agree, I would keep it bone stock being such a nice stock example, and I also agree about the lower side moldings.

I refuse to put them back on my swinger but I hate having the studs still on the body.

Thats funny, I sold it on ebay to Florida and the guy that bought it was going to make a Hemi SS car out of it, only not cut out the rear fenders.

I did have the car at Pomona before ebay.

News.

The car is still owned by the 85 year old granny. She is in an assisted living home now because she cannot drive any more. The car has not been put up for sale yet but I have first dibs when the daughter in-law sweet talks the little granny. I would love to meet her to let her know that I would take great care of her pride and joy and restore it to its original luster. I would love to get it all fixed up and take her out on a nice drive when I'm finished with it.

Looks like it may be a little while before I can strike a deal. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I will keep everyone posted for sure.

Sure Pete fly on out here. You can help me drive it to my house and we can go for beers afterwards.
