hopeless car junkie
More h.p. is always great and nice timeslips even better, unless your only interested in putting around on the street which is a total waste of a high h.p. motor..for comparison my 360 has 10.7 to 1 comp and roughly 400 h.p. and put my duster in the 11.70's so theres no way, that combo is making what you people think..13.8's that car should be a lot quicker then that,i've got a buddy with an old crate motor out of the box running consistent 13.0's in his '68 dart..dyno's are good for some things but bring it to the track and run it if you want real results,i know quite a few guys who thought their cars were real fast, only to bring them to the track and find out how SLOW they really are...:angry7:
Roughly 400 h.p.,do you have any real dyno numbers or are you guessing?-and are you confusing flywheel and rear wheel horspower?.Last time I checked an engine making 400 h.p. at the crank aint gonna push anything into the 11s that isnt 3,000lbs. or less and well set up.My brothers 360 is simple and has a mild oval track cam (226 @ .050 .507 lift),10.5 compression and ported iron heads and propels a 3700 pound car to mid 12s 108 mph,the calculations show 430 h.p. at the flywheel and 380 at the crank (four speed). Its pretty simple math to take your mph and weight and figure out your horsepower-and its acurate,if you do alot of drag racing then you know its all mathmatics, there is no guessing when you have timeslips.
