Well I figure I'll remake a resto thread of my dart in hopes of people being able to gain inspiration or seen that doing this stuff isnt that hard.

Right here we have a prestine '67 Dodge Dart GT! Now wait a minute, the title clearly says '68 so something aint right here! Well, I've always loved the '68 year more than the others and this car came with more '68 parts than '67 cept the interior but 70% of that is being replaced anyways.

As you can see this car really has no good side (had just gotten it home and it found a way to bug me already). So, short rundown is I picked 'er up south of me 4 hours away in Canmore for $1500 from a guy who took it as payment for a body job he did on a guys truck. The previous owner wanted to clone to a '68 so that made my job easier. Somewhere in its life it was hit in the quarter and I assume a insureance company repaired it (bondo bondo bondo) and then some other goofball went and scratched the hell out of the quarter later. The worst of the car was that it was supposedly stuck real good and someone elce decided that putting a hook in the bumper mount hole and pulling it with a tractor was a good idea ('ey, she was not) so the front rail has a big hole out of it and the inners and rad support are ugly.

Yeeeeeeh, thats a lot of cons there, aint lookin so good cap'n! Well, for $1500, with $400 rims, solid-ish (explaned later) floors, absolutely no rust at all (save one section that isnt bad at all), 95% of the parts (really nice ones at that), and in canada, I'd say I hit a small jackpot.

Most recently the quarter has been cut out

All of this is over a span of 7 months with football and school going on. Still have plenty of stuff to do. Its called Project Satan because its going to be all red and black, real evil looking. It will have a R5P7, custom tubular front suspension (not magnum or rms), 4 link rear with ford 9, and a turbo 400 trans.

Cool. I see some fabs skills happening. I like the body roller.

From the car you have started with you have done a extremly well done job. Great skills. Keep the pictues coming and good luck with your project.

Looks good, cudos to you for jumping in with both feet.
I like it when guys do the work on their cars themselves and get down and dirty, it's half the fun!
It's lot of work, but it will be worth it in the long run.

You should keep that green 1968 Alberta license plate. It would be cool at shows.

I wonder if i can get it registered, would be pretty cool. I know for sure it can stay mounted on the front though.

Today we got all the useless metal removed from the rails to make way for the afco suspension and tig'd the rails together.

Dont have any pictures of the suspension though, anybody know the correct front track width for a dart when the spindle is in line with the frame rail, google says 57.4 side to side and 28.7 from center of the car to spindle but it doesnt specify if that was when the car was slammed or raised up high.

More sanding done to the roof, takes forever and is very messy.

Going to tub the car next weekend and weld the quarter panel on possibally.

I have the powertrain and front suspension out of my 69 so if you want any frame measurements it should be easy right now.

Im looking for suspension measurements, with K out of the car I imagine it would be difficult to get accurate measurements of where the wheel sits in the car. The frame rails on the car right now are dead on so no need for any more measurements.

Thanks anyways.

Great job on the roller. I have done kind of the same thing on my 65 Barracuda. I have learned that hot molten undercoating sucks when it lands on your face.

Update after a while, finally got my momentum going again, main body sanding is finished for the most part

Picture is slightly old, cowl is done being sanded and the lower right corner is being cut out so it doesnt have to be sanded.

Did the door on sunday, was a 7 hour job, 2 hours to gut 5 hours to sand, this was why

3 layers of paint (that spot of rust is getting patched, dad found out the hard way what happens when you dont), and you can see on the top of the door that past dingus to own the door filled in the holes where the mirrors go so i'll have to drill that out.

Next weekend the other door and the front fenders are getting knocked out, after thats its finish the metal work.

Looking for your guys' oppinions should I use my nicer 1967 door and relocate the lock or just sand down my green 1969 Door which is a little beat.

I lean toward the more solid door and relocating the lock. I'd rather do that than a bunch of filler.

nice build man, I swear that parts car look a lot like one I sold last winter lol any way keep it up, im looking forward to starting my 68 fish

The parts car was out of fort sask from a guy named murray, really wierd car but I got it for a steal. Going to see if i can find some black self etching primer so I can coat the door and trunk lid and after the quarter is welded in the Dart.
I'll grab my passenger side door and start stripping it down soon, ill go with my 1967 door and change the lock out, cant be hard.
