I have an original MT floor shift 1970 Duster and I'm converting it to a floor shift automatic/ with console. Can anyone tell me if factory opening in the floor hump for manual transmission is the identical as the automatic? Thanks
You will need a patch panel from a console shift car, including the console brackets, and a new carpet
The you will need to pull the carpet out of your car, and remove the floor-shift hump, and weld in the donor part.
Back in the 60s they used to sell an auto shifter that bolted onto the tranny and put the stick through the floor-hole. I haven't seen one in over 45 or 50 years.
There is a at least one thread here somewhere, with measurements. Maybe more.
Otherwise it should have been indexed and marked prior to removal. But then you already knew that.

I'm going the opposite direction. (plan on keeping all the parts in case I change my mind) If you need any measurements or pictures let me know.(not sure if the measurements would be the same as my 69 dart) I had welded the hole shut for the automatic shift rod a while back. (Was using a b&m ratchet shifter) so I'm not much help there.
