R.I.P. Chuck Berry

Lol thanks Ben, from what I read that was his only #1 hit.
Lotsa hits but that was the only #1.
Yeah, much of chart ratings was based on the sales of the 45 rpm. We could wear out the dial on the ol' rotary phone calling stations to request this song air played. Wouldn't happen. I still have the My Ding-A-Ling 45 but it wont ever be very valuable because so many were sold.
Comments in this thread caused my ignore list to grow again ( He who cast the 1st stone ). Duck Chuck!

Oh my, RIP super rock and roller, and thank you for all the memories..

Leave it up to someone to bring up the negative and not see the positive. He did contribute more to rock n roll history than most and certainly more than you. I hope you don't show up at my funeral.

Would you KNOW if I was at your funeral?

I'm a realist. I don't worship things or epochs or anything of the sort. He was a man, and a criminal. And a few other things.

If you want to love him, be my guest.

I really only knew him for his music..... However I did read a bit this AM about him outside of his music and decided to just not continue down that road.... For me he is just Background music but I can see people following his genre...

Lennon spoke highly of his musical talents so that should hold some water I suppose....

Can't deny the talent.....

I'm not denying his talent. That would be crazy. His character is what I dont like.

It used to be character mattered. I guess it no longer does, which is part of the explanation as to how the greatest Republic the world has ever known is quickly becoming a degenerate, reprobate has been.

That's what we should be mourning.

Changed the world.

...and kept playin' until nearly the end.

Kind of what I see as a sad side note to this. He grew up here is the St. Louis area and lived here until he died. He played over 200 weekly concerts at a place called Blueberry Hill here including the last concert he ever did in 2014. There is a St. Louis Walk of fame around there and Chuck Berry's star is right out front. I drove past there both yesterday and today and there is only one bunch of flowers that were laid down on it. Pretty sad considering a couple blocks away you pass a massive amount of flowers and stuff piled up where one of the local gang members died.
