I bought this 69 Dart race car roller. Here are pictures of it's progress from the beginning.
The first picture shows the wiring and shifter and other assorted stuff that I removed from the interior.
The rest show areas of future repairs.

Notice the doors are cut clear out. flimsy at best. Check out the boards to hold the windows up I installed for now. They just pinched the tracks to hold them up. Fenderwells were almost comepletely cut out.
More pictures.

We added a halo bar, finished out the cage with the dash uprights(not sure what they are called), knee knocker bar, door bars, floor bars, struts to the front corners and a brace tying the frame ends together. New steering column, added plates to the shock towers tieing them in, new seat mounting, repaired rusted out floors. Added shocks to the trunk lid. I left the camera card at home so I will post the newest pictures tomorrow.
More pictures.

Casey, I will be racing it at our local drag strip this summer.
70 Thanks.

i'll tell you why the doors were cut out, when i started building this car in my gravel drive way i was newly married with 2 step sons.so money was tight and lighter is better when you don't have a lot of horse power.it ran 13.40 first time out with a 360 in 1990 eventually 12.50s.put a 440 in it on alcohol, and it went a best of 10.43.when i sold it ,it was running 12.30s with a 360.3500.00 turn key,and it looked a hell of alot better then,it was blue with silver from top edges of body line.

:read2:pitch the door glass assembly, build a frame and Lexan both doors. All the weight is in the glass, frames and crank mechinisms. The difference between the steel doors with Lexan and a ready to hang 'glass door is only about 7 pounds. Your fab work certainly looks top shelf, you won't have any problems.

I can definatly relate to that one Sam, it sounds kinda like me with the Dart.Money isnt that tight ,but its not falling outta trees either.I look for ET gains anywhere i can find them ,and the cheaper the better...

I see people hack out the doors like that all the time, and for what? 6lbs of sheet metal at the most? Hell I removed the regulators out of the Duster and it didn't make any difference so I put them back in. Did you really need that .006 seconds that bad?

it all adds up when you start with a complete car so it wasn't just the doors that was lightened,i see a lot more people removing weight than adding it.and i'll bet youv'e lost a round of racing by less than .006,i know i have.

Jeff-
That car is looking freakin awesome! You are doing a GREAT job! Please keep the pix coming.

Make sure the rear of your helmet is within 6" of the main hoop leading edge. Some tech guys aren't tough on it others are.

Here are some update pictures of the progress.
Welded in doors ( donor car provided panels)
Painted interior with POR type rust converter
Set up engine plate with dummy motor and trans.
Welded in ash tray and glove box skin to the dash
Added shield under fuel cell
Now has inside door handles again (no regulators)

Painted floor with POR-15 epoxy. (dark grey)
Rerun brake lines to master cylinder. (made a new one and used a line from a donor car)
Started to wire the car back up.
Mounted the tach to the roll cage.
Welded up a panel to mount my gauges to the knee bar. (will post pictures of it when painted)
Mounted the shifter up on a bracket to make it more comfortable.
Tranny and convertor from Dynamic should be here tomorrow.
I can almost hear it running.
