Is it possible to convert a 1958 Dodge truck with a manual steering box to a rack and pinion? I am unsure how to change the direction of the steering shaft without the box. Thanks in advance for any input.

sure you can, someone once told me you can put a helicopter motor in a submarine ....if you have enough money.

I would guess that in order to make what you want work correctly, you are needing a rear steer rack and pinion.....not a front steer. Front steer for steering in front of front axle center line, rear steer for steering behind the axle center line. There are front (Omni comes to mind) and rear steer (Mustang / Thunderbird) racks on the market

look into the crown Vic front subframe...used a lot in the hot rod/rat rod world.
